Adding the term on skinner is a big risk too much of one to include the first. I’d consider Neal straight up with the retention on skinner that’s as far as I’d offer at this point. They remove a bunch of term in return they absorb some of the mistake in signing him to that deal. Financially it can make sense for the sabers but idk how closely either team really looks at doing it.

Yeah I think if that was the result of using a 1st as a sweetener to get rid of Neal's contract, Holland would be better off keeping the 1st, buying out Neal this offseason, resigning Nuge for the wing and signing a more permanent 3C with the annual savings on Neal (about 3mil). A lot more workable result than a 7 year, 7 mil per bet on a guy who is streaky as hell.

Theres zero debate that Skinner is the worst contract in the league. Oilers don't need that anchor for the next 7 seasons

... and they shouldn't be giving up a 1st to acquire it, either!

If you want Skinner just wait until Buffalo buys him out and then sign him for league minimum.
