Assuming Calgary doesn't wanna move Tkachuk or Lindholm for him, so it would start with Rasmus Andersson likely

It would be hard to make a Nylander trade work with Calgary because of the position the two teams are in, both want to compete now and get better. The Flames won't trade young pieces who can contribute now like Nylander, like Tkachuk, so all that is left is older players with less term left. Immediately Calgary would have to give up a more valuable player because of the age/remaining term and that won't work for the Flames or their fans.

Tkachuk is worth more than Nylander, Lindholm 1v1 Nylander would be a huge upgrade for Toronto IMO

Not because of skills, but what Lindholm brings as a 200 feet player.

Wouldnt do Lindholm 1 for 1. Toronto should keep Nylander though and Flames dont need more soft wingers

Lindholm 1-1 would be fair, less cap hit but less term
Tkachuk for Willy plus a depth player (vesey, engval) or a 3rd
Mangipane + Bennett + 2nd for Willy would maybe work too

Quite honestly, I am unsure.

Calgary and Toronto are both looking to compete.

I feel Lindholm would be a start and then both teams would add accordingly.

If they won't move any of Tkachuk, Lindholm, or Andersson then Toronto walks away. Flames gotta offer something Toronto needs, those would be the 3 guys. Leafs aren't interested in picks or prospects.

100%. That’s why there is no trade to be made here

What are pieces that you would be willing to give up? I've already seen no's to Tkachuk, Lindholm, and Andersson.

What, exactly?

They're both pretty good at corsi, PK, takeaways, and faceoffs. Lindholm hits more in a season than Nylander has in his career, but that's still not saying much. The bigger differences are in age and consistent offense.

Nylander has three seasons of at least 20 goals and 45 points. Tkachuk has three. Lindholm has one. Lindholm doesn't belong in this conversation, unless the Flames also throw in a 1LW, with enough retention to make the cap work. If Toronto thinks about trading one of their big four, it's probably to add a 1LW or a #1RD, not just to come up with something that helps some other team, and seems fair to fans on the internet. They like Nylander, in Toronto.

Obviously Tkachuk is younger and tougher and meaner, and that all has value. But how much? Nylander+late 1st+Liljegren=Tkachuk? Tkachuk, Matthews, and Marner could be a great 1st line for a long time, but it would take that kind of an overpay to move a fan favorite out of Calgary, and even if Toronto pays that much, who do the Flames move to LW?

Assuming the flames don't want to move Tkachuk, but they want to make an offer that gets Toronto to think about moving Nylander, here's a more realistic idea:

Nylander+Kerfoot (to mostly balance the cap)=Lindholm+Gaudreau(retained 1 or 2M, to balance the cap the rest of the way)+2nd. That gives Toronto the proven top-six LW they've been missing since JVR left, and only slightly downgrades them at 2RW. I think that gets the Leafs on the phone, without including Tkachuk. It gives Calgary a top line of either Tkachuk, Monahan, and Nylander, or they can move Nylander to center and play Tkachuk, Nylander, and Mangiapane together, to go young, for a 1st line that lasts a long, long time. Toronto can play Gaudreau with Matthews and Marner, and hope that Lindholm and Tavares do well enough together, or they can move Lindholm to 3C for a great two-way third line, and see who else breaks out on Tavares' wing. Maybe even get away with Boyd or Spezza up there, as a rental, while a long term option develops.

Kylington and Benett to me are just depth, they dont move the needle into being a more dangerous team.

Calgary will be in a race for the 4th playoff spot and will need all the help they can get

Thanks for your answer, appreciate it. I think Lindholm is a little bit undervalued tho. He can play center very well and on the right wing too. With Tavares it would be a great line I think, taking draws on their strong side respectively.

Lindholm plays hard too and can be thrown in every situation, less talented than Willy but he's working harder. I think he could be an upgrade for the leafs in his style of play. Nylander is a heck of a player but he sometimes takes night off, but consistency and defense is something that is easier to learn than offensive talent. Sure it would take more than Lindholm to fetch Willy.

For Tkachuk, like you say, he's a fan favorite, hard nosed blue collar and probably the next captain. This put value for the Flames that you can't quantify on paper. Heart and soul of the club.

Calgary needs a top 6 Right handed shot but like you said, it's tough to trade in the division and also tougher to trade with the situation in the world right now.
