Lindholm and Gaudreau

Created by: Eli
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 25, 2021
Published: Feb. 25, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
On the CGY side, someone suggested Nylander for Lindholm this morning. That's not fair because Nylander is two years younger, more consistent on offense, just as good on defense, with a higher ceiling in terms of his potential if he plays top line and top power play. It wouldn't move the needle for Toronto.

But Toronto could use a #1LW, maybe? It wouldn't hurt to add one.

Does this look fair? If not, who adds what?

Disaster for Flames. Lindholm for Nylander is more or less a wash, so it's technically Kerfoot+2nd for Gaudreau.

How? Nylander's slightly better at defense and offense, except for the one year that Lindholm was a stopgap on Calgary's top power play unit and got a lot of easy points.

Nylander has three years over 20 goals and 45 points, without really cracking his team's top power play. Lindholm has one year at that level (and added a ton of PPP that year). Calgary can overrate him off of that, if they want to, but then the Leafs are keeping Nylander, who is younger, just as good defensively, and has a higher ceiling offensively.

That's a hell of a sexy trade for the Leafs. Can't see Calgary having any interest in that.

Lindholm's better on defense. Last three years combined Lindholm has more points. And lastly Lindholm's ability to play C makes him invaluable for Flames.

Sorry but this is an easy no.

Nylandre is slightly better at defense? i dont think Flames would consider a lindholm for nylander straight up, then factor in Gaudreau for kerfoot n a second and thats not even remotely close. That pick would need to be a first, with either a prospect and or another pick probably atleast a 3rd

In fairness it's not Kerfoot for Bennett but it sure is worse! This is outrageously bad for the Flames

Maybe... but Nylander's got better puck possession and much more consistent offense than Lindholm, and he's two years younger, and would be a better option as a #1C between Tkachuk and Mangiapane for the next decade, so really, they might not have to add much.

Lindholm is our best contract and Gaudreau has been our best skater this year

Lindholm hits more, but still not very much. Nylander has better corsi. Both are pretty good on PK and faceoffs. Since the start of last season, Nylander has nine more even strength points than Lindholm. Nine more. Yeah, Lindholm had one big year. But that's all he's really shown. Nylander's pretty consistently on a 60 point pace, without significant power play time. A Flames fan posted asking what it would take to get him. This is what I think it would take. I'm not even much of Leafs fan. Just a realist. Feel free to counter, but I didn't start this conversation, and I don't care where Nylander plays.

I'm not even reporting the abuse, but maybe read the rules, here, because they suspend people for calling each other "stupid."

I will cut you some slack cause there is a good chance you are not yet in high school but for future reference:

Delusional - adjective
having false or unrealistic beliefs or opinions
i.e. Senators who think they will get agreement on a comprehensive tax bill are delusional.

Not sure where you read stupid into this but please feel free to report the “abuse”
