Since Flames are in playoff push they keep Rittch. Don't know why the Sabres would trade for a UFA goalie...they are going to miss the playoffs anyway.
Teams won't take Skinner even at 50% retention.
Toffilli has been a real bright spot for Montreal. They don't need Montour.

In my opinion:

Butcher > McCabe (but let's assume that they're equal)

Wood plus the third > Mittelstadt plus the over-the-horizon second

So, New Jersey is already taking gas. Now you want them to take on Skinner too?

Can you please explain to me why the habs would trade the guy who they just signed as a UFA and is on pace for 55 goals in a normal year?

Comparing defensemen to goalies is comparing apples to oranges. Comparing offensive defensemen to defensive defensemen is comparing different kinds of apples.

In any event, by ">" I meant to convey "is worth more." In this instance, assuming that each varies from the norm in his beneficial direction, I was factoring in the difference in their contracts, including term.
