Description

Another AGM from a devils fan had the devils trading Gusev with retention to the pens for a 2022 2nd and Zajac with retention for a 2021 2nd to the isles. Isles fans said there was no room for Zajac so I thought he would be a decent addition to bolster our bottom 6 and could be good enough to jump into top 6 if *knocks on wood* Crosby or Malkin get injured. Because we would give a 2023 2nd, I added a 3rd in that year and a prospect. Would this be good enough for either team?

This is the pens at pretty much full health minus Zucker.

Kind of torn on how the lineup should look. Should the pens bump rust down to spread the offense out and keep Gusev on the his right handed side? Or put McCann on the 3rd line and have 2 righty wingers on line 2 and 2 lefties on line 3?

Why not? If they are taking an L on the season then what would retention on a couple of pending UFAs to increase their value hurt?

I think a conditional 1st would be fair but we don’t have one for this year lol. So that’s why I did the two 2nds, a 3rd, and prospect.

I just figured our fourth line is probably our biggest weakness...at least at full health. So that would bolster that by moving the Blueger line back down to the “4th line”

If we had a 1st or even a 3rd I would say for sure. But not having a pick til like the 5th round would be brutal 😭

Funny because Zajac is the better player of the two right now. Goose has been bad. All his production has been in garbage time.

Zajac has 2 goals this year... they both aren’t exactly lighting the lamp but I’d definitely bet that Gusev upside is more

That or put Zucker with Malkin and Gus when he comes back and Rust with McCann and Zajac. That would give Sully enough options that might make his head explode lol.

I think the value is ok. Both players have been rocky this year. Goose had slow start and is picking it up recently with late goals in last couple of games. Zajac had covid...and looks little gassed at times. But he is usually as steady of a vet as you'll find on devils.

For return to NJD, I think Fitzy wants young players over picks.
