Asking Price on Lindholm

Description
The Flames have always been an interesting case to me. I've enjoyed them as a tertiary team because for some reason I fell in love with Kiprusoff as a kid. It's really been a shame they haven't been able to hang around as a consistent cup contender because they've had the pieces at one point or another, just not in the right phase of their careers.
So if they decided to tear it down, try and build it up all at once as opposed to this half open half shut thing they've had for the majority of the decade, there are some interesting pieces here. Obviously Tkachuk probably doesn't get moved, but some of the main guys probably get shipped out. The most interesting piece to me is Lindholm. Solid contract for 4 years, but he hits FA at the age of 30 instead of the usual 27 or 28, so realistically he's probably a better extension 4-5 year extension candidate than someone you'd want to toss a long term deal at.
Let's say they decide to bail out on this core if they don't make a run in the spring this year. 3 years left on 4.85M, primarily a right winger who can take draws. Having a down year with a shooting percentage that's half of last years, but only 2% lower than career average. What do you think the market is there? Probably ball park a 1st and an A prospect? Giving an example with the Hawks because I know their system the best. Now of course, theoretically this trade happens in the summer so the trade doesn't impact the pick value. Just gauging value, not necessarily saying this deal should go through on either end.

Me too. I'm trying to gauge readiness to trade him and what Flames fans think his value is, because I think in the case the flames tear down, he's the perfect candidate for any contender with that contract and the length of it.

id say a first, an A prospect and another good prospect would get some talking, one of the most underrated players in the league imo. under contract for 3 more years under 5 milion, that doesnt come up on the trade market very often

Think Alex Nylander would add any consideration as a throw in? Not necessarily a prospect at 22, but still probably more raw potential than anyone else in the system.

That's fair. More or less trying to gauge willingness to trade him/what you think he'd be worth. Can't say I blame you, but no way I'd pull the trigger on sending Dach for Lindholm. He'll fetch quite a haul though

We’re not willing to trade him, but I think that this may be decent value. Throw in Kurashev. The Flames won’t rebuild like everyone thinks though . Treliving won’t stick around for a rebuild. He’ll get fired. The Fire Ward move is the last card Treliving has to play. After that, I’d say the Flames ditch him. I like him as a GM but it won’t last forever. That’s why Tre won’t do a rebuild. He built this team and he’ll live and die by it

Lindholm was a RW last year. This year he’s a 1C, and very good at it. He’s an excellent two way player who plays the first unit on both special teams, takes on the toughest matchups, is good at faceoffs, and is locked up for several years at under 5mil. Players like that just aren’t available, he would demand a king’s ransom and then some. Think 4 1sts or equivalent to START with. That said he’s not getting traded, if the Flames were to tear it down they would rebuild around him, Tkachuk, Dube, and Mangiapane, supported by Andersson, Valimaki, and at least one of Hanifin/Mackey, plus Wolf, with the goal of being competitive again in 3 years.

Ah didn't know he was 1C. I don't get Flames games cuz I live in the states but looking at the lineups the past couple games I saw him at RW. Noted

Lindholm has showed amazing skill and potential over the last 3 seasons and might be on the best contract in the NHL. If you want those you gotta give up something just as good

Yikes. Elias Lindholm is a proven top 6 forward. No way he's getting dealt just a B level prospect a roster of player of the same caliber as lindholm would have to be included.
