What teams, if any, would have interest in trading for (without salary retention) Carey Price or Shea Weber?

If you retain half on Weber, maybe him on Leafs, but the desire is pretty low to be honest.

They’d have to overpay imo. Like Norlinder and a 1st and retain some salary

I was thinking that as well, it would give them a big name off the hop (similar to MAF in Vegas), and Price might agree to waive since his wife is from the Seattle area, and he played in Tri City in his junior days.

Plus he’s still a star. Would sell jerseys forsure

Then Montreal shouldn't bother IMO, you don't want to retain salary on these guys, which probably makes them impossible to move.

He would probably bounce back nicely with Seattle knowing Montreal's luck as well.

Gonna be completely blunt, I don't think Price is even movable but I think Weber holds some value retained...although I wouldn't trade Weber if I were MTL.

That's fair. Montreal is most likely going to have to work with these guys.

I don't think price will move, but I feel like any team would want weber, solid top 4 d man, Price will prob stay.

Weber's contract is way too long and he's starting to decline in aspects of his game that he used to be the best at, Weber's had a really rough year.

It’s a flat cap next year as well. Unless Montreal is taking 10.5m back in long term awful contracts, it’s nearly impossible with a flat cap

Well, yes he does have a monster contract but imo he's a solid d man for 2-3 years im not saying he's worth a first round pick, but if a cup contending team wants him you guys could get some solid prospects for him.

But also I get what you're saying that contract could rip a teams cap.

In a flat cap environment, it's hard to imagine a contending team that's interested in him without salary retention. He's still a good defensemen, just not what he once was.

Also very true, Montreal is virtually stuck with him, only way he moves is with salary retention, he has to move soon Suzuki's rookie contract is ending soon (I think) and he's gonna want a payday

Seattle is the only thing that makes sense. Close to his home so he may waive his NMC. Plus he would sell tickets right off the bat and be their face like Fleury was to Vegas. He would be too hard to trade and he would still need to waive his NMC.

Weber is a little easier to move over the next couple years because he is only owed 6mil over his final 4 years on his contract. It would help a team reach the floor of the cap without actually spending the money

Suzuki has got the remainder of this season and next, but then I would imagine Montreal rids themselves of the Byron and Chiarot contracts as well, which if they're smart they'll save to spend on Suzuki.

Maybe a team like Detroit would want Weber (They're not going to give up a lot to get him though obviously) to stabilize their blueline during their rebuild, add a good veteran leader to the locker room and get them to the cap floor for the next couple of years.
