Center upgrade

Created by: Super_Randy
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 26, 2021
Published: Feb. 26, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The reason I call this upgrade is yes we lose Danault but he doesn't really generate points. At this stage he's better utlized for defensive specialist and we can get Glendening for faceoffs at 1/3 of the cost and Haula is also one of the better faceoff players in the NHL according to his faceoff percentage the last couple years. Our young kids really struggle in the faceoffs except for Evans, so having two vets to help in that area could really boost our team.
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Glendening, Luke ($900,000 retained)
DET
  1. Mete, Victor
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (WSH)
2.
MTL
  1. Ekholm, Mattias
  2. Haula, Erik
Additional Details:
Trade breakdown - Haula for Lehkonen and 5th seems fair
Ekholm for Danault (who they can flip for more or sign), Norlinder and a 1st 2022.
NSH
  1. Danault, Phillip
  2. Lehkonen, Artturi
  3. Norlinder, Mattias [Reserve List]
  4. 2021 5th round pick (PHI)
  5. 2022 1st round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Danault is UFA but they can reflip him for more assets
3.
MTL
The Detroit trade is done early so Glendening can quarintine for 2 weeks and Mete doesn't really play so we won't lose a roster player.
    NSH
The Nashville trade will be hard to pull off with a 2 week quarantine period but if you trade for Glendening early you will still have 4 capable centers to use. We can replace Lehkonen in the lineup

This is probably not far off what it should be. I think the 5th could go up to a 3rd at the highest but possibly a 4th. Nashville would be smart to flip Danault for more assets.

I'm not a DET fan at all, but to be fair to them...they can get a much better offer for Glendening. He will likely be one of the most sought after TDL acquisitions in the NHL this year. DET are obvious sellers and he's the NHL's best face off guy this year so far and by a wide margin. He's a 68.4% and in 2nd place is Bergeron at 62.8%. Glendening is also DET's #1 PK guy. DET will gladly eat half his cap.

Depends on what Nashville could get for Danault but i don't hate it.
