CGY fans are gonna say..."not enough on Bennett" pretending he has some great value.
I don't blame BUF for not wanting ERod back. But hey, he's a rental and so is Staal. They still think they are in the hunt though, so no trade there.

Gag, is that a ****ing joke? Evan Rodrigues shouldn’t even be in the NHL anymore. We’d rather play a prospect instead of wasting a roster roster spot on him yet again. You’d have to have a piece worth acquiring wouldn’t you?

Respectfully, Rodrigues has played very well this year until he got injured. It's not all about goals and assists, on the Crosby line he was the one going into the corners and retrieving dump ins and played solid defensively. However I can understand that the fans may not want him back. Riikola on the other hand is an absolutely solid young NHL caliber defenseman that will never get his shot in the penguins organization due to the sheer depth at defense. Buffalo is delusional if they think they honestly have a shot this year especially with Eichel out now. If I were them I would try to acquire some assets where they can. If not Rodrigues, maybe Angelo or O'Connor?

I get that Buffalo may not want him back. Maybe a different player might entice them more. As for Calgary. I feel this deal is very fair. It gives them a bottom 6 grinder in Sceviour and a future asset in Miletic as well as a fair pick. I don't think they'll get a much better offer realistically.

I have no problem making a move for the future. I believe this waste of a season is all but over with for Buffalo, and I’m actually kind of fine with it. Like you said there is another prospect out there that would be more useful to Buffalo. Rodrigues would be more palatable were he a player we were sad to lose in any way. Believe me Sabres fans were doing backflips when we got rid of him, getting him back would be like infecting yourself with cancer. At his best he played a hard game, smart defensively, making good puck decisions, and still scoring 30 points in a season. When he played hardball with the Sabres and got his arbitration contract he proceeded to not earn a penny of it. That left a bad taste in all of our mouths.

What I know about Riikola is pretty much as you’ve said, he would be in addition I would be happy with. The Sabres actually already have a lot of young defensemen, so a forward prospect that is nearly NHL ready would be more interesting for the Sabres.
