Rangers say no. Kakko is essentially untouchable right now, we need his play on an ELC contract. (Lafreniere & Fox are the same thing, and Shesterkin & Miller might as well be)

To add to my above post:

Given that Lafreniere, Kakko, Fox, Shesterkin & probably Miller are untouchables on the Rangers, you're looking at 2 potential offers they might make for Eichel.

        1. Prospects based: 2021 1st (looking to be top 10), Conditional 2022 1st (say NYR make it to ECF, otherwise it's a 2nd) Lundkvist, Kravtsov, Robertson, Buchnevich/Chytil, DeAngelo/Smith for cap purposes
        2. Zibanejad-based: Zibanejad, Kravtsov/Robertson, 2021 1st Top 10 protected

This is what people fail to realize we don’t need Eichel. We can easily draft a center like Berniers or Johnson top 10 this year and they’ll be ready in 1-2 years. All our guys are still dumb young learning the game. Rushing the process would be a mistake.

NSH would just lose Jokiharju in the expansion draft -- that would give them 5 D to protect. If they trade Ekholm, it's to get to a 7-3-1 expansion draft protection list (as well as retooling)
