Apparently MTL fans want him gone?
Other than the Seattle issue, I think Jets do it. Maybe they just expose him after the trade. Or they offer compensation to not. Who knows
He's also been here before so the fit should be no problem. Plus, no quarantine. Big bonus.
But I know WPG values him and probably didn't re-sign him in FA only because the Buff money was supposed to be in the way.
I think this team is quite good.

I heard somewhere that Chiarot signed in Montreal due to them offering the third year whereas the Jets only wanted to do a two year deal, don't know if that's totally true though.

I heard that too, but I also heard it was a salary issue. Chevy was probably looking towards that inevitable Laine extension and didn't want to be strapped by that extra year of Chiarot. My guess is that it's different now.
But, we didn't have two very solid LHD pretty close to NHL mins, so maybe they don't need him back. But for this season, given the structure and how they Jets look, he would be a very solid add.

I really like the idea of adding Chiarot. He should’ve stayed here anyways, obviously with buff situation and laine extension looming it didn’t work.
