Detroit passes, We're not dealing Troy Stecher Yzerman really likes him and he's been one of our more capable Dmen.

Stetcher > Larsson, Detroit already has LHD comparable to him in Grand Rapids (AHL).

I think Hyman would take a discount for some term anyways

I've seen it proposed a few times by Ducks fans, but I don't really see how Shattenkirk makes any sense for Ottawa. Ottawa has Zaitsev who isn't going anywhere, Zub who needs a new deal, but looks like a guy who will be around a while. They also have Jacob Bernard-Docker who will be ready to go as the 3rd pair guy. If anything it makes more sense to add a defensive LD to mentor JBD and play minutes on the PK.

I'm curious.... What is it you think the Leafs can offer him that's more appealing than 4 x $4.5M ?

Hometown kid who grew up here, earned plenty here and his parents were loaded to begin with. Gets more advertisement/sponsorship deals here because it's Toronto and because he's a well-liked hometown kid than he would anywhere else, loves playing for the team he grew up watching. His wife is from here, his kid was born here. Leafs couldn't offer a more lucrative contract in terms of AAV, but could offer term to make it somewhat comparable and more advertising opportunities than he'd get in Anaheim, and his family is here. Leafs could offer 3.75 - 4ish million x 5ish years

Hymen might show up in the odd radio add for a pizza place or roofing company but let's not pretend he's making bank on sponsorship deals. Anything with real money attached to it is going to Matthews and Marner. In his interview (in which he said all the right things about loving being Leaf, and the fans, and his teammates, blah blah) I noticed it was all positive, but carefully worded. Maybe you're right and he'll take a discount, but knowing his team has never made it out of the 1st round and this potentially being his last contract, maybe the dream of playing for the Cup has a bigger allure than staying close to home for less money.

Lol if he wants a cup no way he leaves the leafs to play for Anaheim, his contract would be up before they’re contending if even that

I realize THIS trade has him going to ANA but I was not being specific about where he might go, only that he would go. Especially if Toronto fails in the playoffs again.
