Add Sandin and Kings still decline.

    Vilardi isn't a 3C either...

Kings decline, Vilardi is doing well at the NHL level (playing second line center) and graduated from prospect. Kings haven’t even seen his ceiling yet and will need to be paid accordingly. Nick Robertson or Lehtonen level players need to be coming back.

I don’t think either team wants to make this trade.

General consensus is that Sandin is better prospect than Vilardi. Not saying I agree (probably close), but to add to a trade where you get Dermott who would play in the Kings top 4 and Liljegren who is a top D in the AHL would be a massive overpay for the Leafs. I could see a Sandin-Vilardi trade making sense but not on top of Dermott and Liljegren.

Would be happy to swap out Lehtonen for Dermott.

I get it Kings fans, you REALLY like Vilardi. Who are you willing to give up instead. Would swapping Vilardi for Kupari make any sense?

Except Vilardi isn't a prospect, he's a 2C at the NHL level. Sandin is a prospect that hasn't been able to hold a spot in the NHL.

There isn't a trade to be made.

The problem here is (1) Vilardi has already graduated and Sandin has not (2) That Sandin couldn’t beat out Dermott and Lehtonen for more ice time this season tells me he’s not ready yet (3) Vilardi is already a Calder candidate and eating real minutes at the NHL than Sandin (4) could you please show the prospect ranking list that has Vilardi and Sandin close? They have always been in different draft tiers.

I don’t want Sandin if I’m Blake, I want Lehtonen, Vilardi is the Kings best graduated prospect if a team wants him, it won’t be cheap.

He's a 2C on a mediocre hockey team, not a 2C for most teams. Sandin is a year younger and he's a defenseman (i.e. longer to develop) playing on a team with a backlog of LD. I'm not sure there's a single LD on the Kings that would crack the Leafs lineup.

Probably not. We can't protect Dermott from Seattle so it's basically Kupari for Liljegren. I like Liljegren a lot, but Kupari was leading the AHL in points before being assigned to the Taxi Squad. I don't think it would be wide to trade him at this time.

I'd consider Akil Thomas for Liljegren.

Who do you mean by Lehtonen? Surely you don't mean Mikko Lehtonen.

A few recent prospect rankings published by The Athletic have Sandin ahead of Vilardi. I haven't seen anywhere that has the reverse. Mind you Vilardi's stock has surely risen this year.

Who would you be protecting instead of Dermott? I have trouble finding players worth protecting to even get to the minimum lol.

Mikey Anderson who already has a few Calder votes would definitely be playing 3LD if he were on the Leafs, but that's a useless argument.

Given the fact that half the teams in the league don't have a good 2C, I'd say you're wrong about Vilardi.

It doesn't matter though because as it stands the Kings are right outside a playoff spot and Vilardi is a big part in why we aren't at the bottom again.

That argument that because the Kings are a bad team that's why he plays 2C instead of 3C doesn't really hold weight anymore.

I’d take the Lehtonen trade, he’s going to be great and worth the wait.

Vilardi is a 2C on his rookie year is what is more impressive, and that has launched a basement team to middle of the pack. The only point Sandin might have had equal value to Vilardi was when his back was injured for a year threatening his career entirely. He’s healthy and nearly a non-tradable asset.

Doughty, Roy, and Walker. If we go 4-4-1, add Clague to that list.
