Well I didn't know he was a Sabers fan. but I still saw a lot of AVS fans deals for Eichel with Byram and Newhook as base.

I dont think many avs fans are sending Byram and Newhook in trades, most avs fans dont want to even consider an Eichel trade bc its a constant topic of conversation, how the avs navigate the cap next year...eichel hurts that, and with no high end ELCs in newhook and Byram it compounds that issue and makes them worse off fill out the roster.

9 times out of 10 if anyone is posting an Avs trading for Crosby, Eichel etc its another fan base not avs fans TBH

Not here at hfboards and they were AVS fans. Yes, I understand that ELCs will be important, unless just making the cap work, but it's fair if you don't want to give your two best prospects, but this is cost.

thats why its not worth it, Byram and Newhook + 8m in additional cap space to fill out the rest of the Top 6 or Top 4 is more valuable to the Avs vs adding Eichel who arguable would be the Avs 3rd best player on the team behind Mackinnon and Makar (hes making a Norris case as a sophomore, thats a special talent), it doesnt make any sense at the price it would cost

I would give up both if Eichel was making what MacKinnon is (or if the cap were rising as normal), but the flat cap just makes it impossible.

I dont know what the sabres answer is if Eichel wants to be traded, its Never a knock on him that the Avs wouldnt be inserted at the price, hes still 1 hell of a talent, one of the leagues best.
its almost an impossible trade to craft bc there is no precedent in recent memory of such a high end talent being traded at this point of their career unless its a pure talent for talent PLD for Laine type of blockbuster

I have tried and just can't get to a place that makes sense without the Sabres retaining. And they won't do that so I gave it up. Those pictures in my head of Eichel, MacKinnon, and Makar in 3v3 play will have to remain just that.

Everyone needs to remember that the Mac situation is extremely unique - nobody of his skill-set and accomplishment has that kind of contract at his age. It was a perfect storm that has worked out in the Avs favor. Had he signed a bridge for, say, 3 years and still done the same things on the ice, he's easily making $10M right now, if not more and the Avs don't have nearly the same roster as they do. So, adding a guy like Eichel, which would be awesome to have, is completely impractical in a salary cap world but even more pronounced with a flat-cap. Right now, the name of the game is managing the cap with the core players (Mac, Landy, Mikko, Makar) they have and filling in around them, not adding someone like Eichel.
