    nah just wait till Tavares' deal is done and we resign him much cheaper, McDavid's contract is up and we have him and Matthews and Marner together

    Well the Leafs won't have Matthews he'll be gone as UFA

    I think the Leafs could persuade Matthews to re-sign by:

    - loading and outbidding any offer
    - giving him the "C"
    - telling him that the Leafs will sign McDavid

    Kinda interesting that leafs fans think McDavid will walk in Free agency, when has the best player in the league done that? What top player in their prime wants to join a strong team to win a cup? What legacy does that carry? I mean maybe when he’s old an cup chasing at like 33 - 34 but u guys can’t seriously think like that

    Well , I kinda think it's kinda interesting that any Oiler fan would like McDavid would resign with the Oilers. Sure many MVPs resign wit their teams, but most MVPs are with Cup contenders....no reason to think Oilers will be considered a top contenders. I'm a Leaf fan, and I certainly don't think the Matthews is gonna resign with the Leafs when he is a UFA. It's just the nature of being a UFA.
