According to Buffalo fans, that was because they like Quinn more and they don't want Rossi. So they still take Quinn.

I doubt it. They drafted Cozens the year before and already had Eichel on the team. Rossi has the higher ceiling and if the Sabres trade Eichel, they could have gone with a Rossi-Cozens duo down the middle.

Yeah I'm just telling you what I've heard from Buffalo fans the last week or so. Plus now Rossi has had some issues with Covid, he's damaged goods. Probably might never be an NHL player again tbh. So Buffalo is good with Quinn.

I'm genuinely curious to know why you think that? Everything that's been reported by the Wild's front office, our beat writer Michael Russo, Rossi's agent, his family, and his doctors have all said that they expect him to make a full recovery and that it shouldn't affect him long term or his potential NHL career.

He's delayed, certainly, but it doesn't seem anyone thinks that his situation is that dire.

Edit: Or are you just saying what Saber fans have been saying?

Was Rossi injured or did he get Covid? Or both?

Oh I don't think that, I think he'll be fine. But I'm learning from Sabres fans who 6 months ago were heartbroken that their GM chose Quinn instead of Rossi, and are now trying to grasp at any straw possible to devalue Rossi in hypothetical Eichel trades.

Covid, he's experienced long haul systems and the prevailing theory among fans since medical info will never be released to the public is that he has myocarditis.

As I said prior though, his doctors think he'll be fine long term but want him to rest without exercising or getting his heart rate up. Six weeks was what they wanted I believe. He should be coming back to Minnesota next month for progress testing.

Gotcha, I'd agree with that assessment tbh.

He will hopefully recover. It probably would be smart to let him rest this season and bring him up next year

Yeah, that sounds like what Guerin basically switched to as soon as he found out. If nothing else, we get to slide his contract until next year and basically gain a free year of extra control.

I normally hate the Wild (Parise) but I hope Rossi does well there

Yeah, assuming neither he nor Boldy play their 7 games this season, their ELC's will be up at the same time as Zuccarello's contract.

I for one won't devalue Rossi, but he would be in a trade for Eichel if it were to happen between the wild and sabres. And most sabres fans I know aren't dogging Rossi but trying to see why they picked Quinn. Quinn only took hockey seriously for the first time the year he blew up, up until then he was doing that multi sport thing and never committed. So there is upside there, according to the inside video of the draft room. I would have personally still taken Rossi, and the draft room was split between the two. They liked both Rossi and Quinn and doubt his value would have dropped in their eyes. Just what I think anyways.

IIRC, I think the prorated number of games this year is 6. Normally 9.

Rossi I don't think will play this year, as I think Guerin will want him to recover from Covid first and use the extra time off in order to get back to where he was before he contracted it and try to make the roster next season.

I could see how Guerin might have Boldy get some games in this year after the college year is done to see where he's at, but I wouldn't think there'd be any rush and to use the games next season if he wants to go pro.

Yeah so 7 games is where the year would burn. If they don't play in the 7th game, the year won't burn, and their ELC's will be up the same summer as Zuccarello's contract.
