First time I've seen Staal traded back to Carolina. That;d be an interesting and realistic add.

I'm just not in belief that Forsberg can be had at this package.

How much is missing from the Forsberg package? We talking major parts or minor pieces?

I think you have value, just not the right value. I don't think Nashville moves Forsberg for bits and pieces relative to the asset. I think they are more after one more prime prospect and a pick rather than a few picks, players and prospects that add up to his value.

I was just thinking

Picks are great
Rees is one of the 5 best prospects in the organisation
Foegele is cost controlled and good to have in a rebuild, he could also be flipped if you don't like him

MTL would be interesting in Hayden Fleury, but we need to send another dman back, probably Mete or Kulak

Is Haydn Fleury really someone Carolina would look to move?

You say Mrazek is fine. Ok, I can accept that. Why do you want a goalie that's "fine". Why don't you want a goalie that's good or great? I don't get your love for Mrazek. It's consistent. I'll give you that, but ill advised. He's 29. You don't find levels of play after 29 and his 9 year career says he's a .911 goalie.

Fellow Canes fan here, I did that exact Fleury trade for a 3rd and a 5th a while back. I would like that Staal trade as long as he can move to the wing instead of J. Staal.

You are not getting that kind of return for Forsberg in a time when cap space is at a premium. A first, second, top prospect, good young roster player plus another major piece and another high pick? This value is about there, although I understand that the pieces may not be the most desirable for Nashville.

This is pretty good, I like trading for Eric. However, I really don't like trading McGinn, he's been so good to start this season playing on the top line. He's versatile, and would be invaluable for a cup run.

Foegle is another middle 6 forward. Carolina picks after making these moves would be near the end of the rounds so picks aren’t worth as much. I’d say add another 2nd and a b prospect and it might get done

That's a definite no from any team. Foegele is a middle-six forward, who's still young enough to develop into that scary top 6 player. You are guessing where the picks might fall. Carolina are in a division with Florida and Tampa, there's no certainty they pass the first round if they don't win the division, so saying "the picks aren't worth as much because they'll be late" is a pure guess.

The 1st is unprotected in the event of a collapse, the prospect used is a top 3 prospect in the organisation... what more do you want?

That was more to make cap space for Forsberg. If you have to pick between McGinn and Forsberg... is it really close?
