From The Athletic today:

Quote:
24. Taylor Hall, Sabres: Hall was pushed down this list for a couple of reasons. One, even on an expiring contract, he’s expensive. Most teams just don’t have the financial flexibility to add $8 million, even pro-rated. “Buffalo is going to have to eat half the money and I don’t know what pick they’re getting to do it. Maybe a second? They’re not getting a first,” said one executive. “There still aren’t many top-six guys you can add and he’s a top six. No one is going to want to take on the pro-rated $8 million cash.”

The second reason he’s not higher is that Hall has complete trade protection. And according to an NHL source, he’s enjoyed his time in Buffalo and wouldn’t necessarily be eager to waive it. It’s possible that a contract extension is more likely than a trade here.

I think this is a really good fit, and a decent price.

Meh. The markets the market. I dont see a problem retaining 50%, ideally you would think retaining brings a sweetener, but probably not in this case. Bonus- its likely that if we trade hall, we wont try to bring him back at 7 years 8 per, which is how i really dont need this to end.

Let's be honest here, $8,000,000 for Hall was a huge over pay.
Hoffman signed with Colorado for half of that.
At the TDL, it will not be a huge concern especially if the team has a contract that they want to move out.
Lastly, if he likes it in Buffalo, Adams could do a Moulson trade then resign.

Do we want a guy who isn't about winning? Like hall isn't even producing playing along side eichel and we won't be resigning him. At this rate for colorado i'd be more interested in getting a different 3c or even 2c before we get another top 6 winger
