Probably. If they don’t it’ll probably be close through the finish.

No. They are the most over hyped team in the league. Their last 6 wins have been against either the red wings or blue jackets and both teams have been having miserable years so far. That Central division is pretty weak so honestly if they finish fourth and make it I won't be surprised. However I just believe they are not as good as a team that everyone is making them look as.

the blue jackets are literally the 5th best team in the division. If we beat them, that makes us the 4th best, right? 4th best = playoffs

I probably didn't word myself well. They have a chance of making it but they are not a good team. I honestly think that probably Dallas could push into the top 4.

you started off the reply saying "no" so if you meant anything other than that, you didn't word your response well. Nobody is overhyping them here. We're just happy we get to watch enjoyable hockey for once in the past 3 years. Dallas could but they have been playing meh so far this season, and having to catch up quite a fair bit couple with a very compacted schedule probably won't bode well for their endurance

No, they wont. The top 3 teams in the division are undeniably Florida, Tampa and Carolina. Dallas is still a better team than the Blackhawks behind those 3 and will pass them as they catch up in games.

I think they will, BUT @Bird3 is correct that our schedule has been very easy to date. I don't agree with him that the Central is easy. The north is the easiest, then Pacific, then Central, then the BEast. CBJ aside as they're middle of the pack...(2) games against TBL (2) against the Panthers and (3) against CAR. We will find out how good the Hawks are REAL soon. March is the hardest month of the year. Let's talk in early April and see how Dallas is playing. That's their only real competition at this point for the final spot.

yeah I would take the stars over the hawks in a series but its gonna take an absolute heater for them to catch the hawks in the standings

not necessarily. It'll go off of points per game if the Stars can't finish their schedule.

The Central division is not weak. That Central is the only division with 3 teams in the top 10 of the most respected Power Ranking writers...4 different top analysts have Carolina, Florida and TB all in the top 10...no other division has three teams. The weakest division is the North IMO and really not close to the rest. Outside of Toronto, none of the teams would match up well against the Carolina, Florida and TB. Pretty sure the Hawks are pretty evenly matched against MTL or Calgary and could win a best of 7, no way the Hawks can do that against Carolina, Florida or TB or frankly come close. Jets are interesting team with super strong goaltending but about half the rankings have them just outside of the top 10. Oilers are gaining ground but the Oilers are not a scary team IMO, still too many holes outside of the top 4 guys. Sens and Wings are both bottom feeders but the Canucks are worse then Nashville or Columbus IMO. The North is just not that great.

For the Central outside of the top 3 teams, Dallas is interesting in that we know how good they can be but they aren't playing that great. Hawks right now are playing better then Dallas which is why they beat the stars both times they met so far this season. I suspect Dallas to pull it together and get the 4th place in the division.

I think the plan right now is for them to finish their schedule. As it stands, they need to win 6 out of their next 7 to catch up. As well, after tonight, the only difference in our playing the top dogs in the division will be they have had one more game against Florida, so its not like they've gotten screwed over or anything by an early schedule. Our two head to head wins against them may end up being a huge difference maker.

Well we have 6 games left against Dallas so a 2-0 start is a good, but could get negated quickly if we only win 2 out of the 6 games left.

Plus they were both in OT, so it’s more like a 1-0 lead with 6 games left.
