I'm sorry but you are seriously reading this wrong if that is what you think he wants out of Detroit. Why did the sign a 4yr deal if he wants out of Detroit? He would've been a UFA in 2 years. Why did he buy a house in Detroit if he wants out? He bought the house before he signed that 4yr deal. This wasn't meant to be an insult and even though I think you are misreading the situation I would be happy to discuss this some more with you.
Thanks and I do intend this convo to be honest and not bashing. I'm straight up curious. Maybe my word not wanting to be a Red Wing wasn't 100% what I was intending. I don't think he dislikes the Red Wings. To me, it looks like he doesn't want to play hockey right now for any team. I'll point to one example that I feel like happens more often than it should. NO, one example doesn't make a career or a season or even a game. I get that. It's just one breakdown of film

The Zadorov goal. The play starts at exactly 1:00. Blackhawks steal the puck and in doing so Filppula loses his stick. Not exactly how the play was drawn up, but that happens in hockey and it's not like Filppula lost his stick on purpose either. Kampf brings the puck up the wing and waits for the trailer. Pretty standard hockey play that happens many times every game. The trailer happens to be Nikita Zadorov. That man is most likely the slowest man in the entire NHL. What gets me about this whole thing is that A.) I do believe Mantha could have caught him. but B.) Not only was Mantha not there...Filppula went and picked up his stick and beat Mantha to Zadorov. I can sit here and say that I understand it was probably Filppula's guy to get, but he lost his stick. I'm honestly curious to know what Mantha was thinking as the play happened? That's not my guy so I don't have to go get him? I don't get it.
Again, one play doesn't make a game and it doesn't make a season and it doesn't make a career. I just use this play because it seems IMO to be occurring more than it should AND it's a play that reveals effort.
