Seattle tossed in turris as a warm body sweetener to take jones over lagesson. Jones has higher ceiling but lagesson I believe is a better fit for oilers given the type of young defenders in Edmonton he brings grit the others do not.

That's one of the more reasonable Driedger that I've seen. He might not get that kind of term, but the dollar amount seems quite likely. I've seen somewhere he's signed for like $2.75M ... Do you think Kahun and Larsson get that much? Everything else seems really good. The Oilers should have a really good off-season with a little cap room to play with.

$5m over 6 years for a guy with 25 games of NHL experience...

What's your definition of term? I can definitely see him getting $4M-$5M for three.

I know larsson gets very little love on this site but from what I’ve seen of him don’t see any reason to expect him to take a pay cut. His effort is unquestionable every night plays heavy and smart very underrated in my opinion.
Kahun i wouldn’t be upset to see that number he’s smart player goes to the right areas. Don’t really see the skill level to be a consistent producer more of a streaky presence that being said RARELY view him as a liability. Can hold second line spot if opportunity comes up to upgrade it’s not a cap hit that would hurt dropping to bottom six minutes.
Driedger I’ve done one of these offering him markstrom comparable because if he keeps up his play this year I could see a lot of teams in the mix. I think there could be more aggressive teams looking to correct position with term.

I’m predicting a much more aggressive market for goalies this offseason. Wouldn’t be surprised to see markstrom become a comparable by offseason If he continues to play as good as he has.

This team is God awful. They only beat the Canucks and Senators with Smith standing on his head.

McDavid will ask to be traded.... There's your fantasy starting point!

Hahahahahaha second in the North, they were also 3-4 overall in the league these last few weeks ahaha a few bad games against a good team and that's it eh? I love the hate the Oilers get for having McDavid... Haha it's priceless

I would guess something more like 2-3 years at $3.5m

Why buyout Neal just to waste the money? That's never a great idea.

Larsson should be cheaper with less term
Kahun, Khaira, Benson and Haas should be cheaper
Driedger should be WAY cheaper with WAY less term. OMG, this guy has played just 26 NHL games and is vastly outperforming his resume. I mean, look at his lifetime record:

WHL .908 (170 GP)
ECHL .898 (75 GP)
AHL .913 (139 GP)
NHL .929 (26 GP)

Spot the anomaly.

NHL GM's are too savvy to give this guy more than $2M and 2 years.

The stats don't lie... Driedger has been incredible and will continue to be incredible
Though I agree that contract of 5m x 6 is ridiculous

It's a tiny sample size. Why is he "incredible" in the NHL yet average to poor in every league up until now? That concerns me... and yeah, you just don't give a guy a lifetime contract based on 26 games.

I agree it does seem like a lot for him and do think it’s a risky signing only reason why went as high as I did is because I’m predicting an aggressive market for goalies this year and his performance this year to be comparable to markstrom. Honestly think if he keeps it up will be highly attractive option for several teams. Holland I can see not wanting to loose out on an upgrade again

Markstrom had 286 games of NHL experience over a period of 10 years before CGY gave him that contract. And he isn't living up to it AT ALL, so I'm not sure why you'd use him as a comp. If anything, Markstrom (and Lehner, and Bobrovsky, and Price, etc.) should be a cautionary tale as to why not to sign goalies for so much and so long.

True just think it will be a competitive market. If can get him cheaper great obviously idk if that will be the case. Hope so
