That is a terrible trade for the Leafs. Enormous overpay that leaves us on a knife's edge in the goalie dept. and with no future.
In fact, all the trades are just plain awful for the Leafs. Are you sure you're a fan?

What if they win the cup like this? These trades wouldn't be bad then.

You've made the defence worse by trading Dermot and Lehtonen and getting worse Dmen in return.
Made centre worse by trading Kerfoot and playing a LWer in such spot
Goal tending is worse losing Andersen.
What is the obsession getting trading Preds to the Leafs. Yea Forsberg would be very nice, Granlund nice...but the rest are worse than current Leafs. A severe overpayment by the Leafs.

Robertson and Sandin are untouchables I thought we covered that by now.

All those extra assets from Nashville just seems like too much. Just keep Freddy he's better, try to acquire Forsberg without throwing in Sandin or Robertson. (Liljgren, 1st, 2nd, Kerfoot would be a start)

Dubas isn't going to move Nylander

Hagelin for a small contract or two seems fine to this Caps fan. Don't see him having positive or negative trade value. The short term tenacity, PK skill, speed, and playoff experience cancel out the contract risk, long term. If you want Hagelin, neither of these teams has $20 of cap space, and I think WSH probably isn't retaining for the next two seasons to move a guy they're comfortable playing anywhere in their bottom nine.

Not sure about that other stuff in there. I keep seeing Nylander to WSH offers, which makes sense because he grew up there and Nick Backstrom helped teach him to skate. But here's where I'd estimate the value has to be to get the Caps interested: Nylander+1st+2nd+some prospects=Ovechkin if Toronto's on his list and negotiations on his extension break down. Nylander+1st+Hyman=Wilson+some contracts to balance cap. Nylander+cap balancing little contract=Kuznetsov+2nd. Nylander=Oshie+1st+little contracts to balance cap. Oshie's got more term left than Hagelin, but Oshie is on a 57 point pace this year, as usual, and does okay in the playoffs.

Not sure either of these teams has a spot for Dermott right now, but he should be easy to flip for a 3rd.

First of all, this is not how the nhl works. 14 piece trade, especially post covid, won't happen. Besides, it's a ridiculous overpay by the leafs. Makes then better now, but you give up the top 2 prospects and 2 firsts, very bad idea, even for a contending team.
Second trade, just why? They can be sent down. Keep the depth with the team.
Third deal just won't happen, neither Washington nor Toronto is going to give up their player.

NJD declines Barabanov and Lehtonen. Can sign 'em on off-season.
