Other than losing DeMelo to expansion, it's good.
I really think Savard is a good choice.

I agree, but I think the price would be higher than a 3rd (WTF, it's not even this year tears of joy) and Niku.

Don’t think Maurice is the issue here. At least mostly. I honestly think he does more good than harm tbh

That’s what you’d think but looking at the deadline last year Vatanen, Gustafsson, DeMelo and Dillon went for about that price.

Yeah, don't think price is the issue here. He wouldn't fetch a 1st and Niku is no slouch. Maybe switch it to CBJ's own 3rd back?

Niku is definitely a slouch.

Sure, but last years list of available D was far more bountiful than this years appears to be (as of right now). If more teams fall out of it, maybe...but as of today, there's not too many guys that are likely available.

Hey, maybe I missed something, but perhaps you could justify your valuation of Niku.

Well, if you watch him play, you'd see that is definitely capable of not only being a puck mover at the NHL level, but also a driver of offence. He had a poor outing earlier in the year, but he was paired with beaulieu. He brings everyone down.
Niku with Demelo looks completely different and having a stable defensive minded partner allows him to be creative and certainly effective (and not a slouch wink )

I mean, his numbers are historically bad right now...I'll be the first to give the benefit of the doubt to a small sample size, but he's 24, and has yet to show anything. We'll see I suppose.

Very fair. But he's played in the last 3 games and he looks like he belongs.
