Exactly. Honest question to people asking for discounts: Why?

They also think his NTC kicked in already. If there was a team in Siberia offering the most, send him there if it happens.

This is what happens when a player is frustrated and wants out of a losing franchise. ( R.O'Reilly, R. Nash, P. Kessel)

Whats funny is that all Columbus and Toronto found success after those guys were traded, as did Colorado with O'Reilly

Why is Eichel asking for a trade going to lower his value and thus a discount? He is still viewed as a top ten player in the league and will have interest from every team in the league, although most serious from LA and NY.

As for the offer itself, you're going to have to include your 2021 first over your 2022 first, along with a second and third and then include Kappo Kakko, Filip Chytil, and a third player to enter the discussion

You. Are. Not. Wrong.
but what you fail to acknowledge is that Eichel is already showing signs of unhappiness. i'm assuming his play right now is not a "slump".
so - as a fan, would you rather have a nice package of picks and prospects or a pissed off EIchel collecting a $10M paycheck for the next 5 years while the team becomes even more of a dumpster fire than it already is...?

*IF* Eichel asks for a trade, Buffalo losses their position of power in negotiations - the offers will be watered down.
Buffalo only maximizes return if they move him before he publicly asks.

IMO, as a non-Sabres, non-Rangers fan, an Eichel package should look like:

-Laf or Kakko
-Strome
-2021 1st (lotto pick)
-Schneider or Lundkvist.
-Maybe a 3rd

The difference being the upside of one of Laf/Kakko, vs. Chytil/Georgiev, the likely lotto pick vs. most likely a 20th+OA pick next year, and I don't really care about the difference between Strome/Zibanejad TBH.

Anze Kopitar, Gabe Vilardi, Alex Turcotte, Quinton Byfield.

Where does Ryan Strome fit in?

Los Angeles is the destination if the Sabres trade Eichel.

First off, I would want him in the Western Conference, and second off Los Angeles has the young centers the Sabres would want in return.

Turcotte, Vilardi, a prospect defenseman with upside, and then maybe a contract like Jeff Carter to make the money work (Carter would get immediately dealt to make it a three team deal with Buffalo retaining half) and then a first round pick in 2021 and additional picks.

Los Angeles is also in playoff contention right now unlike the Rangers who are further away, and they could be a Jack Eichel away from taking the next step.

I know some Kings fans would be hesitant to part with both Vilardi and Turcotte, but it's not asking for both Byfield and Turcotte like Sabre fans would want. Vilardi fits the mold of young NHL roster player the Sabres would want, but he is also a risk because of his injury history. Turcotte would be the prized prospect in the deal, and LA's first could be in the 13-18 range.

Byfield would be too much unless the package was smaller IMO like lets say Turcotte and Byfield. But if you're adding Eichel, you're doing it to pair with Byfield, and Kopitar down the middle and it would give the Kings one of the most unique center trios in the league with Kopitar the elder veteran, Eichel, the flashy dynamic stud in his prime, and Byfield a young up and comer.

LA would also still have Akil Thomas, Rasmus Kupari and Tyler Madden behind them on the depth chart.

I don't find the Rangers appealing as a trade partner personally

i don't think that is unreasonable. my opinion is that he gets a young top 6 forward, a top 3 prospect, a 1st, maybe a tier 2 prospect and then a combination of rostered players for salary offset.

So in the case of NYR:
Kakko
Schneider or Kravtsov, maybe Nils
Strome or Buch
Gauthier or Howden or both for all i care
21/23 Firsts - 2nd first depending on the combination of players above

Not necessarily. As I said, he still is a top ten player in his prime who is under contract. Players of Eichel's calliber typically do not come available that often. It rarely happens, and hell top line centers rarely come free.

Someone above referenced the Rick Nash and Phil Kessell trades. Nash was traded for a 28yo Brandon Dubinsky, a 25yo Artem Anismov, prospect Tim Erixson, and a first, and that was in his contract year. Kessell with Tyler Biggs, and ironically Tim Erixson with some retention on Kessels salary was traded to Pitt for Kasperi Kapanen, prospect Scott Harrington and first and third rounders.
Matt Duchene got Colorado a first, second, third, Vladislav Kamanev, Shane Bowers, and Samuel Girard in his contract year. And of course that ended up being a bigger steal because Colorado ended up with the 4th OA pick.

Jack Eichel is only 24, has plenty of term although his cap hit is high, every GM in the league views him as a franchise center and a guy you build your team around. Eichel also doesn't have a NTC or NMC.

I agree that there is a huge disconnect from what Sabre fans think Eichel is worth and from what he will really get. Sabre fans think he's Byfield, Turcotte, a roster player and multiple firsts or if we are talking the NYR, Lafreniere, Chytil, Kappo and mutiple firsts. And if you're LA and NY, you want Eichel to pair with Lafreniere or Byfield long term, not to trade one of them away

Eichel will likely get a top prospect, a young u 23-25 roster player, a third prospect, maybe a throw in veteran salary dump for salary purposes , a first, and a second, maybe a third
