16 part trade? No. Most you ever really see is eight. Not even gonna look up some of those obscure pieces. If it comes down to values smaller than Lawrence Pilut, you're working too hard.

The 2M retention for 6 years of Eichel in a trade that nets them a whole lotta nothing (quality) is what gets me. Nice work

If I’m a GM trading a star player in his prime, I would literally burn every offer that has retention for more then 1 season.

You want a star player, at his age, figure out your own cap.

avs wouldn't be able to make it work with the cap this season and especially not next season. can't put conditions on a player re-signing anymore.

Not just that, but getting one elite prospect and multiple first round picks is a must.

For those of you who think Buffalo should be getting a very good roster player I say: getting such a player would hinder a proper rebuild.

Hall is a hard pass, forget the cap and that he “wants to play winning hockey” yet signs for BUF for the highest offer. That Eichel trade is something. Not good for BUF but it is something.

If a roster player is involved that player would have very little term left , my honest thought is Calgary comes out of nowhere and picks up Eichel using Gaudreau, Bennet and Zary with added picks and prospects

I just read back through all of 2020 on (https://www.capfriendly.com/trades). There were three five piece trades and one six piece trade. That was as big as it got. And there were only a couple of fours. The other fifty or a hundred or however many trades had three or fewer moving parts.

Whatever the deal is in the end it will be for an ok but needed roster player ( they will have to balance money) a very good prospect (Cozens calibre) and a couple lottery tickets and with next to no scouting department how well are those lottery tickets going to pay off?

I don't know about adding anyone who would drag Buffalo out of a draft lottery position. The point is, if you go through the pain of trading Eichel, you should be guaranteeing yourself a bottom 3 finish so you can end up as close to the number 1 pick as possible.

This is why if I am a Sabres fan, I want nothing to do with roster players who can muddle with a bottom 3 finish.

If Eichel can't drag them out of lottery contention I doubt any player that would be involved could
