I'd personally love it. We give up a 1 dimensional player with no defensive awareness or any ability to forecheck in exchange for a guy who is more 2 way without too much offense

Not strait up. Forsberg might be way better, but he has less term. I think Nashville would have to add slightly. But that doesn't really help them anyway. It won't happen.

You do realize FF is a offensive player - he isn’t really a two way guy.

Not saying he can’t play defence but he’s not a two way like some players - it’s just that your comment of Forsberg is quite literally the opposite (“a guy who doesn’t provide much offence”)

How is Forsberg "way better"?

First of all I hate casual leafs fans who say Nylander isn't good and should be traded for absolutely no reason.

Also Nylander and Forsberg have similar value IF they had the same amount of term and were the same age. Both are great players but why would the leafs (a contender) trade away one of their best players to get a similar player who isn't even better then Nylander and has 1 more year after the 2 week quarantine when they want to add and not subtract. This makes no sense.

This is a trade that doesn't benefit the leafs at all. Nylander is younger, locked up for more years, is one of the best players in the league at puck possession (which is a big part of the leafs system) for someone who isn't clearly better then him.

And also you forgot to mention where you are hearing this from...

Personally I’d prefer Forsberg than Nylander if I’m trying to win the cup - but I think Nash adds to the leafs to return due to age/ contract.

Fun fact: Filip Forsberg starts more of his shifts in the offensive zone than William Nylander.

We go through this every single season.
Nylander isn't getting traded any time soon.
Just accept it.

Your argument for Forsberg being "way better" is based on EXPECTED stats? Solid argument.

That’s not what I said at all. I just showed some ADV stats of the players.

I said “I’d prefer Forsberg if I’m trying to win the cup” - I think Forsberg is the better player. I like his shot a lot and I think 5 on 5 he’s very good. Watching the playoffs and our series against him from the past - he specifically was better in the playoffs and a threat. Didn’t say Nylander was dog, I’d just rather see FF on my team if I’m going on a cup run. I like him more. I also said that nash still adds?

some of you need to realize that this guy just hates nylander, no sane person would make this trade. it's terrible for the leafs both currently and in the future.

I find it funny how some leaf fans who love marner feel the need to hate on nylander, they're both elite players just enjoy them

Ok, not "way" better but he's better. He's gotten more points for the last 4 years except last year, and he's played less games all those years too (except one maybe).

if you look at dubas' moves it's pretty easy to tell he views winning the cup as a probability game, and getting multiple kicks at the can over more years is more important than a short sighted move.

Nylander has more value then Forsberg simply due to having the extra two years on his deal. Forsberg is the better player but because of this factor Nylander has more value.

This doesn't add up. Nylander is winger that can play C. He is currently centring the 2nd line and doing a fine job of it. He's younger and has term on his contract. Can't see the Leafs making this type of deal in season. Maybe off season, Nylander gets moved but I doubt it's for Forsberg.

Where is this rumour coming from?

I've said in the past that Nylander should be traded, but he is a good player. Sure, it's aggravating watching him play poorly because he is so capable, but trading him right now makes no sense. As of late Nylander has been fantastic. Why trade a core 4 player when we are winning? This is absolutely insane. Also, where are you hearing this "rumor" from. CapFriendly Armchair GM is not a credible source.
