Re-do on Rebuild

Created by: Hale86
Team: 2021-22 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 3, 2021
Published: Mar. 3, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hi end players are support pieces and outside of few months from Oct 2018 - Jan 2019, this team has been a .500 at best team that is not consistent. Not enough speed, compete, skill or size to really be good at anything and time to sell off desirable pieces.

Would assume this all starts with Management gone and actually hiring a head coach that other teams desire first.

Leave exposed, worth taking this out of the lineup to start again. He has been around since 2007 and seen 2 iterations of a team underperform for large stretches, would have moved on from him before many others that are already gone from current team. Cap hit too big for rebuilding team too.

Andersen isn't signing that. Getzlaf isn't signing here.

In case you didn't know the last time an offer sheet was not matched Steven Stamkos was playing for Sarnia Sting

That seems like a lot for slightly over a year of Gaudreau, especially keeping in mind that Philly will then have to turn around and give up assets to get Seattle to take a cap hit so that they can afford to keep Gaudreau next year.

There is worlds less than zero chance the Blues would do that even if they had the cap, which they do not. That sort of deal is the exact opposite of what they need in every possible way. They have LDs falling out of their ears, need to restock the prospect pool, don't have another goalie and Giordano is sliding fast anyway. Also, the last thing the Rangers need is another goalie.

On the other hand, Vancouver surely takes that and runs. So there's that.

First let me say that I agree the Blues say no to this deal for both cap and a lack of prospect pool. That being said, Gio is still better than basically our entire left side even at 37. I wouldn't mind having him, then exposing in the expansion. At 4 mil cap hit, it's worth the risk. Him with Parayko as the 1b(or 1a depending how you see Faulk/Krug) is a pretty damn good top 4.

1- Fully disagree. Dude is sliding fast. Check his numbers, he's not even that close to Krug this season.

2- Bro, you can't possibly imagine that Seattle would take him.

3- Couldn't disagree more, sorry.

He's also not a a great team so his stats reflect that. Also, if you look at what, I didnt say he'd be our best, I said pretty much the best. Krug would be exception.

Also, I just said expose him to Seattle, not that they would take him. But if they did, who cares. If they don't, great. But Gio can still play.
