I don’t think he’s underrated. He’s very good but I think Buffalo would want 2 guys with huge potential in the trade and Rangers don’t have much to offer besides Laf or Kakko

If LA is giving up Turcotte in any deal, I'd imagine they expect to get Eichel back in return. They're not gonna give up their 2nd best prospect to help another team get a top 5 centre in the league

Well Buffalo should get back 2 top young players including a centre.

Buffalo's dilemma is that very few teams could take Eichel's cap without sending an equal amount back.
The LA trade, I would take as the Sabres and use some of the available cap space to sign a good player(s). Unfortunately for the Sabres, like the Canucks, their off season UFA signings have been poor.

Yeah this is what Buffalo needs. 2 solid young players. Will provide less risk than a Kakko + other assets trade

That's a tough ask in the current market with a flat cap and the other team taking on a $10M cap hit

Buffalo could take on cap but don’t expect it to count towards value

Rangers have plenty of cap space. But Lundkvist is untouchable. What about Robertson and Barron for Turcotte. Then add Strome to Buffalo.

NYR: Eichel
LA: Lundkvist/Schneider + Johnson/Samuelsson

I believe you are underating Turcotte. Lundkvist went 28th overall in 2018, Turcotte went 5th, I have to imagine you either believe Lundkvist is a blue-chip talent or Turcotte wasn't worth a top 10 pick. If the Kings are giving up Turcotte the Rangers need to send one of: Kakko, Laffy, Fox, or Shestyorkin. If the Kings are giving up their second-best prospect, they need a blue-chip talent coming back. They can affprd to wait and see him develop in their system.

Lundkvist should have been drafted higher. He is first all time for U21 players in the SHL - better than both Karlsson and Dahlin.
He leads all dmen in the SHL in goals and PP goals and is 17th in the league (all skaters) with 21:11 avg ice time.
i'd say he is bluechip.

I got that, and kudos for the creative approach
But there is an argument that Turcotte/Kakko/1st could be more valuable to NYR.
Especially if Zib struggles are temporary.

nils is a blue chip and position of draft doesn't mean value, lias went 7th and necas and suzuki were much later yet there value is wayyy more than his obviously, nils has legit just been tearing up and breaking records in SHL U21. Im not trying to undermine Turcottes value bc he's gonna be sick but nils is gonna be a stud as well.

I agree, 2017 draft position doesn't equal their current value. But I would still prefer Fox over Lundkvist if both have the potential to being top pairing RD. I think with Turcotte being drafted last year at such a high position and won a gold medal in the world juniors as a 1C, he needs to have a proven player coming back if they give up on him this early.

Higher yes, but being equal value to a potential 1C in Turcotte, I'd rather take my chances with Turcotte adapting to the NHL game than a Swedish defenseman to the NHL game.

As I mentioned I'm not putting anything down on turcotte im just saying nils value is pretty high as well he's looking like a top pair dman as well with an awesome nack for goals on the PP

Never said a word about Turcotte.
Also, there is no shortage of successful Swedish defenseman in NHL history, so I’m not sure what you are implying. I simply said Nils is a bluechip.

Please recall this text thread began from believing this trade undervalues Turcotte. I'm not trying to put Nils down either or indicate he will be a bust, simply that I would not be happy if Blake did a 1-for-1 deal for him if Turcotte was the piece that was given up. The selection of Worbo as AHL coach and moving him from college shows that the Kings are all in on Turcotte, and it would have to be something impressive to seem an acceptable trade this early in his development. That being said, I imagine Lundqvist will be an impressive part of the Rangers' future, as I hope Turcotte will be as well.
