You might be right. Unfortunately he has to be the master of the sliding block pass, because his defence partner, Reilly creates so many 2 on 1 for the opposition.

He wouldn’t have to go to a sliding block if he wasn’t out of position....

4th out of our top 4 D ... so he's obviously cut them down significantly.

Try watching a Leaf game. He has to cover for his wayward defence partner.

Yeah that was bad, got too deep on a lost cause battle and then probably coulda got back but glides until they’re breaking out and it’s too late

He's generally doing that when Rielly turns the puck over. As someone who has watched every Leafs game this season, Brodie has done well covering Rielly's errors.

Terrible take.

The top players from all teams lead in turnovers. It's because they play more minutes and handle the puck more often. And I say that as someone that does not think Reilly is close to being a Top 5 D-man in the league.

I've never really heard Leaf fans pushing that, I'm sure there are some that think that though. I'm like you, I don't believe so either. If Reilly is expecting to be paid like he is, I'd rather see if walk this off-season.

My criticism of has gone back a few years. Though I think this year is his best. Great on the PP. Average at even strength (good this year) but does not play hard PK minutes.
Players get paid by points so I think some team will overpay Reilly as UFA. Don't want to lose him as Leaf fan, but there will be better value elsewhere.

When a leafs defenceman isn’t noticed in Leafnation, and he’s not being talked about, you know he’s doing well

That wasn't on Rielly; Matthews turned back to try to pick off the puck as the Oilers were breaking out when he was Rielly's cover. Rielly isn't perfect, but that wasn't on him.
