What is the point to trading Eichel, you will just be looking for another player like him. He is also part of the reason they are struggling. All I did was move out pending UFAs to get what you can for them. Take some risks on some NHL guys who have not had a chance to play big minutes and let the stars be the stars.

At this point I’d be keeping Sheahan and Reider and trying to find a home for Eakin and Lazar

If the Canes trade for Staal, it will be for draft pick(s), not another player. There is no reason to trade defensive depth for forward depth when trying to go for a cup. Not to mention, with Fleury under contract for next season at $1.3M and still an RFA...the value swings greatly in that direction. Canes would need a pick from Buffalo to make that worth it.
