Nico has much more value than Krieder, they are not close in value just because they have close AAVs

And your "other option" is just as preposterous

Gonna have to agree, why trade you captain for the rangers captain (pretty much) and a second. Hischer has a Way more higher ceiling than Kreids coming from an NYR fan.

Devils need a winger and Rangers need a centre. Contracts are similar both about $7 million through 2026-27. Over last three seasons Kreider has had 134 points and Hischier has had 135 points. Since there is an age difference, I added a draft pick.

Same contracts, same point production, only difference is age and position. And I made up for age by adding a draft pick. Also, if Hischier was worth more, they would have paid him more. It is not some accident that these two players make the same salary after having three similar seasons.

I get that. He is their captain, their favorite player, their former first pick overall. But otherwise the trade is good for both sides. Hischier could play 2c with Laf and Kakko for next six years. Kreider gives the Devils a big fast winger to go along with all their little players like Bratt and Hughes.
