Burke Interview

Created by: gmack95
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 4, 2021
Published: Mar. 4, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In today's interview Brian Burke had with Josh Getzoff, he stated the team will "look to add without sacrificing the future". Along with that, he stated they will "sit down with Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin, and see what they'd like to do".

In regards of the trades, you can swap Bennett and Athanasiou to see what works. Athanasiou between Tanev and Kapanen would be insane speed and Bennett could be a Chris Kunitz type for Sid.

If I'm Pens fans, I would not want Burke making any on ice personnel decisions. Have him to talking on TV....that's what he does best.

Quite fair. A Burkie-style team doesn't match up well in the current NHL.

I'm actually 80% of the way through his book right now. Well worth the read, but a lot of the things that he says in the book confirm that he's stuck in the old NHL.

A read the book two weeks ago. Some nice insight...but typical Burke....always self serving

Agreed. At least it's an entertaining read. I'll take some Steve Simmons bashing any day of the week tears of joy

I'm picking away at the Scotty Bowman book as well, but it's kind of a slow lag.

Pettersson doesn't help LA. If they're going to trade for a LHD, they need a top pairing guy, of which Pettersson is not.

You can probably get Athanasiou at the deadline for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. If you don't mind waiting until after the expansion draft, you can probably have MacDermid for free.

VAN takes the draft pick you can keep the other depth pieces. Also Ducks decline same with LA.
