Two top assets might be the price but really the Leafs don't need another winger. And they might need Liljegren this year and certainly in the next year(s)

It's fair but I don't know whether it's worth it for the Leafs. Expansion draft is coming... if they're picking anyone up at the deadline I'd rather it be a rental.

Agreed. Assuming the plan is to protect 4 fwds and 4 Dmen, you'd be shooting yourselves in the foot. Depends on how "All-in" they intend to go though, I suppose.

Trade makes no sense for the leafs. Can’t protect him and I just don’t see how this is an upgrade on what we have.

Trade is fair value but you can keep Malgin. Besides, under certain obscure but not entirely unlikely circumstances (mostly not wanting or having to protect Dermott and Holl), you might need Malgin to be a qualifying forward.

value is ok. that being said Liljegren+1+4 for a guy they will lose to seattle is kinda meh

with the emergence of Holl leafs are going the 8 skater protect route (Hyman is a UFA and they probably wait to sign him)
Seattle can take Dermott/Kerfoot
