Very very realistic. Very very Benning. Very very much not a contender.

That Holtby WOWZA of a contract $$ is not going to Seattle straight-up without some "BC bud" as incentive...

Kraken will take someone younger like Olli or Jake or.......

If they don’t take Holtby Vancouver will probably just buy him out. His buyout cap hit is only 500k next season so you’d still have the same team as above

no but he gets protected easily other than Schmidt they don't really have any other defensemen to protect

I'd almost rather suffer one more year while the terrible contracts all end. Then make a run a Parayko and Forsberg the year after

at this point I dont think Seattle even looking at Holtby as there are much better options to be had

    most likely gonna take Motte

Agreed. Eriksson, beagle, Roussell, Sutter, Baertschi, spooner buyout, Holtby, Luongo recap... all gone from the books. $27 million in cap and it represents three 4th liners and a backup goalie on the current roster. Canucks just need to avoid bad contracts this offseason and we’re in good shape to be a force the year after

Maybe true but owner Franco ain't sellin' a lot of blueberries post-COVID to buyout yet another chump.
Someone has to go then [edit; to Seattle] and for VAN it's likely a younger player as the bottom-6, overpaid old-timers on this club are boat anchors.

Hopefully, the new GM doesn't make any rash decisions and just decides to tough it out

Buying out holtby and calling up dipietro saves about $1 million in total cash and the expense is spread out over 2 years instead of 1 Year. It’s cheaper from both a salary and cap hit perspective to buyout holtby rather than play him next year

That's all fine but the issue is the OP has Holtby being snapped up by the 'Starbucks'...news flash - not happening without some picks/prospects attached.

Agreed. I sincerely doubt holtby goes to Seattle, which is why a buyout is much more likely
