Then I wouldn't be trading with Toronto. Tampa paid a 1st round pick for Barclay Goodrow last year. They know what's up.

Goodrow is A) better and B) had another year at basically league minimum. Glendening is a really solid 4th liner, probably worth a 3rd and a 4th maybe but yea, 2nd is a bit too much

I'll tell you why. They watch more NHL Network than the actual games.

i always wonder just how much people listen to Mike Milbury or PIerre McGuire when they form these weird opinions

Please provide your in-depth analysis sources.

All I've heard from you is FO % and +/-....pretty weak sauce

Maybe you'd like to include Pierre McGuire or Kevin Weekes' in-depth analysis

Wanna know the difference between you and Pierre McGuire.
He's got a cup ring...and you've got an armchair GM account.

Toronto will be in the final four. They're way better than all the North Division teams. Once in the final four its anybody's game with Toronto, Tampa, Boston/Washington, Colorado/Vegas

I never said they won't be in the final four. They will be in the final four but they're not a Stanley Cup contender. It's not "anybody's game". There's a big gap between mediocre teams like EDM/CGY/MTL and elite teams like the ones you mentioned. Also, it's playoff hockey, not regular season.

McGuire is garbage and so is the ring argument. Peter Chiarelli has a Cup ring, I'm not trusting him to be my GM right now.

They will be in the Final Four but they're not a cup contender......hmmmmm....interesting.

The only teams that I would put in the "definitely better" than TOR category are healthy STL, VGK and Tampa. They are definitely a cup contender lol

Uh. Have you seen them play against a competent opponent yet? Me neither. I’ve seen them be a wildly inconsistent team that can give up 6 goals to trash teams, and get shutout by rittich.

That division is garbage top to bottom. The leafs will get buried by the first team they see with two competent d pairs, and two forward lines that can actually play a system.

"They will be in the Final Four"

Because of this season' format due to the pandemic tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy

They haven't won a single round in the past 17 years, failed four seasons in a row and now they're a Cup contender?

Are you aware that the NHL is playing under a different format this season?

Are you suggesting that no one is a cup contender until they've won a cup??? Are you serious?

Seems like your bias is showing.

So what? Look at that roster. Look at how they're playing. They actually have a capable defense now. No un-biased watcher would consider them not a cup contender. Insanity.

I'd gladly take that bet....name your price

Let's use your own logic against you. The Bruins are 12-8....they play in the same division as BUF, NJ, NYR, inconsistent Pens and Flyers and a very mediocre Isles team. Only legit team in that division is WSH. Am I supposed to think BOS isn't a cup contender?

Until they win a round, yes. Nobody goes from a participating in the playoffs to winning the Cup especially when you haven't won a round for years. They're playing in the worst division of the league, wait until they face a real elite team.

They're a good/great regular season team. That's it.

"Look at how they're playing" They should absolutely be 1st in that division and .750 during the whole season. Anything under that is underachieving.

The east is by far the best division in the league.

This core has lost in the first round every opportunity they’ve gotten. They added a piece or two, but nothing to upgrade them from the team that loses a play in round to contender.

a 2nd is to high at most a 3rd would be what Dubas would give for Glendening.

Toronto's 2nd is going to be worth as much as a 3rd. It's going to be high 50's or even low 60's if they make the finals.
It's not like you're giving Detroit a pick in the 30-40 range. LGD isn't worth that. But 58-62 range. yes. He's worth that.

If you think puck possession isn't important you're a fool. LGD faceoffs at 67% in the defensive zone. He's always put into defensive situations by Blashill. Rarely put into offensive zone situations. Those sorts of things impact a players Corsi. LGD is way more likely to be on the ice facing shots than in the offensive zone taking shots.

faceoff percentage isn't 'weak sauce'.

all you got for arguments is 'I saw him on the ice in the defensive zone again' as you brush potato chips off your shirt

Point was: GMs, executives, coaches, analysts, etc. are not infallible.
