As for the Foresberg trade, I'm honestly not too familiar with how valuable those prospects are to you. I understand Bernard-Docker is going to be good. But could he be expendable with Sanderson and Jarvente??

second trades probably a no-go for ottawa. Not cause the values necessarily bad, but JBD and Pinto are big parts of the rebuild going forward without much in the system to replace them. Altough i would love forsberg I think it would make more sense to trade the 2021 1st and another decent piece or 2 instead of those 2 guys. Not sure about the flyers trade either, i kinda want to see it with patrick again before id be willing to commit decent assets but its pretty inoffensive for the sens, not sure the flyers do it tho

(Pick becomes a fist if Ottawa makes playoffs in 2021-22)

So NSH gets fisted here, then again in 21-22?

Yeah the Preds aren't getting good enough pieces to consider this, but I can't see why OTT makes this offer either. They're much further from being a contender than a year and a half of Forsberg can provide. Both teams decline.

The Flyers trade would likely be a non-starter for Ottawa. Patrick is not an upgrade on White at this point, and any potential he's got to improve has been put into question by his health. I think he'll move past it, but that's a huge risk for the Sens to make while giving up some strong assets. White is currently their strongest all around center, and those two 2nds are useful for a rebuilding team like them. Even if Patrick does take those steps, how good does he actually become? A good 2C? Is that really all that much better than White in the end?

I think the value probably isn't horrible on the Nashville trade (though other teams will easily do better), but the Sens aren't a Forsberg away from competing. They need Bernard-Docker and Pinto still as they are incredibly important to what they've been trying to build. Both are seen as important pieces of the rebuild, but changing to alternative prospects (like, say, Thomson and Järventie) loses the value entirely.

Trouble with the Forsberg trade is his 6m cap hit. That gets you a pretty good UFA...and then you can keep. your assets

I’m personally pretty high on Patrick. Maybe a team where he gets a bigger role will allow him to grow into a Sam Reinhart type of 2nd overall pick

Nice prospects, but I don't covet either one that badly. No guaranteed 1st coming back. I don't love the idea of taking Tierney. If NSH is trading Forsberg (which I think would be a mistake for them), I'd hope for at least one piece with a higher ceiling than anything here.

Fisting was hyperbole, but I couldn't resist the joke when I noticed that typo. It's a much stronger offer than fans of some other teams I could mention have been throwing out, but I still don't like it for NSH.

I don't disagree with that, we're just already witnessing Colin White put up 11 in 21 (0.52 PPG) this year and spectacular advanced metrics while playing with Nick Paul (0.40 PPG) and Evgeni Dadonov (0.36 PPG) and only getting minutes on PP2 on one of the worst teams in the league. Reinhart is a 0.65 PPG player throughout his career playing much of his time with Eichel. If White gets an upgrade on his linemates as the Sens roster improves, who's to say he can't grow into that player on his own? It's probably about as likely as hoping for Patrick to stay healthy and develop into a strong 2C.

For that reason, the Sens would be better off keeping White and developing him into that Reinhart-esque two-way player and drafting with those two picks (or trading them for another player; Devon Toews was acquired with two 2nds and would drastically improve the Sens blueline) than they would be acquiring a player who's just as likely to end up on the LTIR. If they were interested in Patrick, which I think they have many reasons to be, it shouldn't be at the cost of a player who offers similar upside because of the health setbacks that Nolan has endured.

Batherson is likely as untouchable as Stützle, Tkachuk and Chabot at this point, unless it's for a piece like Eichel.

The other thing is both prospects are college guys who aren’t signed so they could essentially never play here if they don’t want to.

Wouldn't do either. Patrick might have more upside, but I'm really not convinced that he's more than a 3C, and I'm also not convinced he's even better than Colin White. Certainly not giving up White and two 2nds for him.

I like Forsberg, but I don't really think Ottawa should be that interested in him. He's only got one year left and will be expensive to re-sign. I don't think they have the prospect depth to make a huge splash on a big name player, unless they are an RFA or have a lot of term. I would also be worried about giving Bernard-Docker up. I really think he is going to be an important part of Ottawa's right D of the future.
