The only one that both accept is Seattle BECAUSE they get Fleury who is a pretty good young dman. Little bit like Theodore was

I can't see Seattle doing that. They're guaranteed to have a few good young goalies available to them. Why take Price and his 10.5 million dallar contract when there are so many younger and cheaper goalies available in the expansion draft

gonna take a heck of a lot more than that to get Seattle to take that horrible contract

Too bad Price has a NMC, And wont agree to waive it for Seattle, And you're delusional if you think that Fleury and a 2021 3rd round pick is enough to entice Ron Francis to take him off Montreal's hand. And Danault already said no to 6 x $5,000,000 so noway in hell he signs for 5 x $5,000,000.

seattle isn't going to do montreal any favors.

If Price waives his NMC there's no need to put sweeteners, Seattle isn't going to take Lehkonen or Kulak over Price even with his contract. Remember when Vegas took an old "doesn't have much left in the tank" goaltender in the expansion draft? Worked out pretty good for them and expansion teams are required to hit the floor so taking a couple big contracts isn't going to scare them. Facts are that people wants Carey out based on his last 13 outings yet he is around 2.8/.909% over his last 3 years when the team (And his defense) was going over a pretty big retool and wasn't meant to be a playoff team. For enteirtainment purposes only I'll list our bottom three defenders over those past three years and then you guys tell me if that team is supposed to be great defensively.
2017-18: Alzner, Benn, Morrow/Schlemko. (Weber out most of the year)
2018-19: Reilly, Folin and a mix of four guys at around 15 games. (Weber was out about 30% of the year)
2019-20: Kulak, Mete and Fleury. It's getting better.
This year Price is off but I'd like to refer to comments made by Stephane Waite no longer than yesterday. He was interviewed about his firing and questioned if Price could be back to his good years, his answer was "Yes but with a good defensive scheme" and that there tells me that even inside the team people knew Julien's scheme wasn't a good one for the style of hockey played in 2021.
Then what's next? Seeing that Waite gave up on the defensive schemes but not on his goalie tells me Carey still has a lot more in the tank than people give him. Seattle could easily see the same and look at Montreal's line up throughout the last few years to see that he wasn't so bad considering all circumstances. Is he playing like 10.5M$ now? Obviously not but with five years remaining for his contract and on a team that should have many small contracts to start up with it might still be appealing to lock in Price.
My two cents.
So anyways Carey Price is
33.
And he is signed until he's
39.
And his cap-hit =
$10,500,000.
And this is where he ranks in the NHL:
Current Season = Price is
50th out of
58 goalies in SV% (minimum 4 games played)
Current Season = Price is
34th out of
37 goalies in SV% (minimum 10 games played)
Last 2 Seasons = Price is
30th out of
38 goalies in SV% (minimum 40 games played)
Last 4 Seasons = Price is
28th out of
35 goalies in SV% (minimum 100 games played)
He's been worse than most NHL goalies for four years now.
No one is going near that contract (with
six years remaining).
