Still, there’s 4 former 1st round pick, Shane Pinto(who probably should have been a 1st round pick), an actual 1st round pick, and a middle six center(Chris Tierney). That’s a pretty good haul even without Stützle or Tkachuck. Also, would you take Sanderson?

Trading Eichel especially within the division it’s going to cost more for the team acquiring him. For Ottawa it begins with Sanderson, Stutzle, and a 1st rounder. For a Northeast division opponent to acquire Eichel simply costs more than sending him anywhere else.

This is why Eichel to Ottawa makes no sense. It's impossible to make it work without moving the star power Ottawa already has, unless you're willing to absolutely destroy any organizational depth.

you're giving up a pile of nothing for an elite talent and you're making the pick top 5 protected ... the sabres are dumb but you'd have to think not that dumb.

I think it would be more .. 2021 and 2022 first round no protection + Norris + Batherson + Brannstrom for Buffalo to even consider.
Doesn't matter where players were drafted in the past, it's where they are now at this point in their career.

So that’s like saying you’ll give us Nylander, Mittlestadt, Bogosian, and Galchenyuck for Eichel. Their all former 1st round picks

total value wise it would be close i guess, the problem is when you're trading for players in the tier of jack eichel you need to give up some form of quality, the picks/prospects are good but when you trade a franchise centre under contract for 6 more years just entering his prime, you want to get back at least something that is high-quality which none of them really are imo (at least on the open market). The total amount of players doesnt give the sabres what they'd be looking for in return, and sending a massive amount of prospects to the sabres from ottawa sets us back in the rebuild. Unness nobody else was wiling to offer their top prospects (byfield, turcotte, laf, kakko, etc..) this might have a chance if the sabres decide to sell him, but i dont think they'll move him without a top prospect coming back
