What do the hawks do with the extra 6.8 in cap space?

Is there any penalty for the hawks since he "cant play due to injuries" anymore as opposed to retiring?

more worried about if shaw is going to follow him to retirement and what's going on with toews. Hawks aern't in cap issues anymore so that part doesn't matter much

is it officially retiring and forfeiting the rest of his contract? Or just officially saying he cant play. Its the 15million dollar question left in salary on his contract.

This is just a hossa zetterberg etc contract for the next 3 years IMO, not free cap space yet will be a contract used on LTIR
