What could have been a Mark Stone trade in 2019 - Question Mark

Created by: SevenLeg
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2021
Published: Mar. 5, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Stone, Mark
Additional Details:
Ottawa Senators
VGK
  1. Lehkonen, Artturi
  2. Romanov, Alexander
  3. Tuch, Luke [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
-Romanov = Brannstrom, but probably slightly less value at the time
-Luke Tuch = Egor Sokolov, 2020 2nd round pick
-Artturi Lehkonen = Oscar Lindberg, I'd give the edge to Lehkonen, but no other player really fit Lindberg's value at the time.

That's the trade to Vegas, there would be substantially more going to Ottawa in a division trade.
2.
MTL
CBJ
  1. Anderson, Josh
Additional Details:
Probably no need for a RW, Domi traded for picks and futures.

Doubt they would trade stone in division and could/would Montreal signed him to 76 million dollar contract?

That is quite an assumption that Stone would have signed with Montreal. And with no cap, what happens next season?

Montreal would have had to add massively over the asking price to get Stone. No way were they ever trading him in the division

I specified the division thing in a trade description, but I think they could/would have signed him to that contract. He's everything the organization has been looking for during the last decade or so.

If they had acquired one of the best RWs in the league I doubt they would've drafted Caufield in the 2019 draft. Maybe Harley or Heinola to replace the hole moving Romanov would've created,

Lots of things wouldn't have happened. Toffoli/Edmundson are examples, Tatar/Danault/Armia expire, someone gets picked by Seattle.
