Dahlin is one of the few pieces in Buffalo that actually work, I cannot see him being moved for anything short of something spectacular.

Who's your rumour guy?! Value aside I don't think the Flames have a need at LD for the next while, Hanifin and Valimaki can fill the top 4 going forward, they drafted Kuznetsov last year, Mackey and Kylington are both on the left, just not really a position of need whereas top 6 wingers are.

As a Buffalo fan, the jury is still very much out on Dahlin. I think I might make this trade given Tkachuk's intangibles and the fact that we already know he's an excellent player.

i feel like this trade is useless for both teams. it kind of creates a mess for both organizations. yes, calgary would have a franchise defenseman but now they're missing their heart and soul of their team and that really can't be replaced. yes, buffalo would have an identity player that could toughen up this team while making them more of an offensive threat, but now they're missing a franchise defenseman and those are very hard to come by. it just does nothing for either team.

flames are swimming in talented young LD, no need or point to giving up tkachuk’s unique skillset. Dahlin’s great but we’re not giving up chucky when we have valimaki, hanifin, mackey, kylington, poirier, kuznetsov
