Sabres fan here

I’m not high on Kerfoot at all, but it’s a reasonable offer

I'd do it. Wouldn't give more than that, but this is good for both teams. Only issue is, it leaves us with Engvall at 3c. Maybe if Staal was added, and then Toronto threw in a second round pick?

Sabres don’t have use for Kerfoot though.

Why you sabres fans shot down every trade which includes Kerfoot? He would be a top 6 forward on the sabres, especially if they trade Hall and Staal. And it's not like his contract makes him have negative value or anything. He's better than Johnsson, and Johnsson got a former 2016 3rd rounder.

Cozens will eventually move to center. Lazar has been really good, and they have a Arttu Ruotsalainen who dominate the Liga and is in the AHL for some reason. Eichel won’t be moved either.
I just think they would rather get draft picks and prospects back instead.

There are 6 forwards better than him on the sabres right now.
Eichel, Hall, Oloffson, Cozens, Reinhart and Staal. That's it. So on their current roster he's a 3c. If they trade Staal, he's the 2c. If they trade Hall, he is the 2 left wing (or right wing, but he's better on the left). I don't understand why sabres fans don't want him. He's a good middle 6 player (or if it's a crap team like the sabres top 6 player).

Hall has been atrocious all year.. no way any GM gives up a 1 st round pick for a guy thats scored 2 goals and is putting up 3rd line type numbers while on the top line. Even with salary retained (50% at the deadline equals 2 million) it still isnt going to be a 1st. At best Hall will get them a mid level prospect and a 3rd round pick. GMs dont make deals on what potentially can be brought.. its all about what theyve done to date this season

Toronto is probably one of the only teams for which Hall would waive his NMC.

If Hall is not resigning in Buffalo, then he is a rental.

Since your team is suffering immensely, you take what you can get.

And Toronto is offering you a 1st round pick plus a roster player at a reasonable caphit and term.

If Vegas gave Ottawa a 2nd round pick + Brannstrom for Mark Stone, then Buffalo should be pretty grateful about accepting a 1st round pick + Kerfoot for Hall.

Word to the wise: Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Prospects and draft picks would be better than a below average 3 line center.

Then Hall will walk out on your team at the end of the year and you'll get nothing :/

Good luck to you, then.

Kerfoot is a second liner on the sabres without Hall. Also, really, below average 3rd liner? Nope.

Ok... and sabres 3rd liners aren't?

Besides, are they really that bad? I don't know analytic that much, but he passes the eye test.

Do you really think he's worse than the 75th center in the league? I kinda doubt that.

He's a good if not special 3c or a good if not special 2 wing.

His analytics have been good until this year where he's mostly been used as a shutdown forward. His analytics for that role seem fine. Not great again but fine.

That’s in the realm of possible
Certainly not unreasonable at all imo, & I’m a Sabres fan

If u like Kerfoot so much, then u guys can keep him for your 3C and just add a 2nd round pick for him instead

Kerfoot is an average 3rd liner imo
He’s not gonna do much to help us

Then we will keep him. The only reason he's in every other leafs ACGM is because he's the only player with a relatively cap hit that isn't a core player. Therefore he needs to be in a Hall trade. Anyway, on the sabres he's easily top 6, especially with out Hall and Stall.

So what?
Doesn’t mean he’s a “top6” quality player
And it doesn’t mean we should want him

He's a solid middle six player. At 3.5 he might be slightly overpaid but it's still a reasonable contract.

Great- THEN KEEP HIM BC WE DON’T WANT HIM
Is it really that hard to get through your head that we aren’t interested in Kerfoot???

The leafs aren't looking to trade him, just he has to be in a Hall trade, unless the league decides to eliminate the cap. What so hard to understand about that? If you think he sucks so much flip him.

Nope
U trade him to someone else
We’d rather have draft picks for Hall
The last thing we care about is your Cap situation
We would care about getting the best possible piece(s) for Hall,
period
