I really like the addition of Jarnkrok and honestly I’d rather give up a third or two instead of Jost just for depth reasons.

Faska however I don’t really like because of his term

Is Faksa even an upgrade over Compher at this point? I would steer clear of him personally

Also would rather keep Jost than Jarnkrok, but that contract is nice with the retention

Haula seems like the best C trade target for the Avs in terms of quality for cost imo

Why is term on Faksa a problem? He's only 27 and has a good caphit for a 3C. He'd be a perfect addition.

Regarding Jarnkrok, keep in mind that there's the expansion draft to consider. If Avs add two 3rd liners someone would have to go to make room, and unless someone takes Compher Jost is the obvious trade chip.

Faksa is a big upgrade. Big, physical 3C who wins draws, PK's, and brings an element of meanness.

I’m not a big fan of Jost — I’d probably rather pick(s) for Jarnkrok.

Faksa would be a perfect target for this team if he ever becomes available though.

Avs already have the best PK in the league this year (with Compher on it) and Faksa hasn't been nearly as good this year as he has been in the past. Faceoffs are a non issue imo, and physicality/meanness isn't really unique to Faksa. His drop off in play right after signing a 5 year deal is really concerning imo

Id rather have Compher

Why? It's a good caphit for a solid 3C.

To be fair to Faksa Dallas' season has been a mess with shutdowns and power outtages. Hard to look too hood when the entire team is faltering badly.

It’s 5yrs for a 3rd line player, Bowers and yes Jost who really seems to be finding his stride and role are cheaper and under control. Imo you don’t commit to that kind of term when you know you need financial flexibility in the coming years for guys Makar (if god forbid they sign him to a bridge), MacKinnon, Byram, Newhook, Toews, Burakovsky and another 2nd line winger, along with assumed 2nd contract for either of Barron or Helleson.

If this team is to go anywhere they need to fix the 3C hole one way or another for the next few seasons. Faksa at $3.25m would fill that hole at a reasonable caphit.

Except it isn’t, it’s 5 years. Compher has been abjectly bad this year, but equally as good is Tyson Jost there is who should be the 3C.

What's the problem with it being 5 years? He's a solid player and it gives the team cost certainty at an important part of the lineup.

Jost simply doesn't produce enough offense at 5v5 to be a 3C.

5 yrs for me is what you give core players. How important is it this off season that PEB and Calvert’s contracts come off the books? It’s the same concept, I’d rather have to fill bottom 6 with young and cheap guys then be struggling with money for top players. A year ago Compher’s contract wasn’t all that bad but all it has taken for most Avs fans to want to pay to get rid of him is 20 bad games. Cap flexibility for this team going forward is imperative and 5yr commitments to bottom 6 players isn’t doing that.

Tell me, in your opinion was Jost’s development messed up by rushing him? Yet the kid has found a way to evolve his game. I’d rather give Jost who you used the 10th overall pick on an opportunity to show he can grow into that role than to waste significant resources buying a fix.
