The Stars are not trading for Hall.

They're tanking and that 1st round pick will almost certainly be a lottery pick.

Also, Hall won't waive his NMC for the State of Texas unless the Stars become a playoff contender again.

The 2nd round pick is much more valuable to get a top4 LD dman. When Carlo is back, the Bruins would have 3 top4 options on the right and only Grzelcyk on the left side. It doesn't make sense and anyways, Ristolainen has been a disaster the past two years, I know he's played well this season (until at least COVID, idk since he returned) but it will take more than a 10-game stretch to convince me he's a good defenseman.

Carlo is also back at his home.

Ristolainen has been the complete opposite of a disaster the last 2 years, up until covid Ristolainen was emerging as the defenseman he was supposed to be for years. Which is why the Sabres would have no interest in this trade in the first place, and why Boston would consider it
