Description
Taxi squad is disposable final year contracts. Cole Caufield doesn't appear due to being in reserve list. Brought up all the kids temporarily to showcase the future. For this year, play the disposables in taxi squad instead of the kids. Then, let the kids replace the vets on terrible contracts, which all largely expire in 2022-2023. By 22-23, the kids should all be on the top lines and the bad contracts on the bottom lines. The kids mostly have three years on their deals, so they'll need they payday exactly when the bad contracts expire. Finally, target picks in 2022 and not 2021, since the 2022 draft is far better. This will allow for cheap contracts to supplement the roster come 23-24. This is how you properly rebuild! Plan your $$$ properly and take advantage of your crap years to stockpile bad contracts in exchange for top picks and prospects.

We aren't trading Wolf. He is probably our future goaltender when Markstrom leaves in any way and is one of our best prospects. Also he isn't even close to NHL ready so don't have him as your starter. Also that 1st could be a lottery pick so we ain't trading that. So in conclusion that would be a no from Calgary and I don't care that we are trading Lucic away he has been arguably obe of our best players this year. Also only piece there I am interested in is Reinhart

Fair enough, of the four trades, I do feel the CGY one is lopsided. Keep in mind that Reinhart and Olofsson are both RFAs, and the only decent Sabres so far this year. Esp Reinhart who is really good. I'd say BUF should still do the trade minus Wolf. The way I value it is 2022 1st = Reinhart. Then, Mackey + 2022 2nd = Taking on Lucic's contract. Finally, 2021 1st for Olofsson. I'd be fine with a 2022 3rd instead of the 2021 1st, as that's how big of a gap there is between those two drafts.

Sakic has never traded a 1st, and about the last thing the Avs need is another dman. Makar, Girard, Toews, Graves, Byram, Timmins, McDonald, EJ when he is healthy why exactly would they even want Montour much less pay a premium price of a 1st when they don’t have 2nd rd picks the next 2 years?

I guess the Montréal trade is close to fair value, but it isn’t really cap efficient or positionally efficient for the habs.
