Seems like a lot to give up. I’d rather just continue building.

honestly, I think Keller is more on the trade table than Garland. If a team made a serious offer in the offseason, keller could be dealt

Idk if Kessel is that much of a cap dump to diminish Garland's value. He's got 16 pts in 24 games, and brings star power in the desert. He's slightly overpaid, but his term is more than reasonable.

But he's really a 1 way player. I'm not saying he doesn't have any value. He just needs to be put in the right situation. AND AZ can't really afford much right now. Getting ~$10M off the books should be a good thing. They get a 1st rounder back and prospects on ELCs to develop.

Tbh, with all the UFA money they are freeing this offseason (Raanta, Hjalmarsson, Demers, Goligoski) I think they can afford to keep those two important players.

The reason I like this is because as a system developing prospects. I'm not sure Barrett and Nylander have a true path on this team anymore. They're 1,000% ready right now. Being ready right now works for AZ, but the Hawks have drafted really well last year. Landon Slaggert the real deal. Wyatt Kaiser replace the hobey baker winner without a hitch. Those are the guys that'll we need to continue to develop.

Unless that 1st turns into a lottery pick, Coyotes get the short end of the stick IMO.

I’m sure Nylander has a spot on the hawks due to this teams lack of high potential forwards (Yes I know, The Nylander conversation is about as stale as can be. However I am convinced he gets one last shot with the hawks at the end of this/next season). I’m not sure Barrett could be called ready, but he seems like a good replacement option if we trade Strome and if the hawks see him as the better fit at center vs Suter. While I’m glad the guys we drafted last year are doing well with there respective teams I’m not ready to call them sure things and am not sure if they project as better than bottom 6 guys.

Doesn't really make sense for eigther side. that's a lot to give up for us, I would rather not do it. But also why does AZ trade their best offensive player? Yeah his contract is up but hes young and an RFA. AZ should have no problem keeping him I would think

Agreed on Nylander if we stay the course. Garland takes his place in this trade though.

I follow AZ quite a bit. Their "new" owner isn't just cheap...he's fired a ton of their management NOT due to Chayka's cheating, but because they don't get good revenue even PRE-covid. At the beginning of the year it was leaked that he was trying to shed $10M in operating expenses...players are the best way to do that.

They have raanta, gologoski, demers, and hjalmerson all coming off the books. that's like 16-17 mil right there that they don't even have to trade away to get rid of
