I don’t think it was unrealistic to hope to be competitive at least, which Is mostly what I saw. Who could/would have predicted that EVERY player would have career worst simultaneously. If a fan base doesn’t even have hope why bother

I think a big factor is the coach tbh. They have the players to do well, but there seems to be a lot of tension in the room with players coming out and basically saying that the **** he says is false or off base. Also the fact that he played Risto a day after he recovered from Covid, whereas most teams give the players a few days to train and see how theyre doing. Im definitely putting this one on Krueger. Also this is funny https://twitter.com/FreeJeffSkinner/status/1368623049147359232

You’re missing Saad In that top 9 which is why you don’t do a hall deal

He made his bed by taking an additional1-2m on a year deal instead of singing with a legit contender after saying all he wants to do is win now

I don’t touch hall as a rental, there are better options for pick ups that would be better playoff battle tested. You add a legit 3c and move compher to the wing where he is best suited, it’s a better well rounded top 9..example pay a premium for Boone Jenner, or a cheaper add like haula

Landy mack rants
Saad kadri bura
Compher Jenner/haula donskoi
Nuke bellemare jost/Calvert

Tough division! If they were in another division they might've had a chance at the playoffs, but not this division. Also their announcer might have jinxed them when he called them, "scary good!"

Yeah I thought forsure they’d be competitive at least, but I figured they’d still be behind a lot of teams in that division

Yeah I figured they’d be competitive at least, but I still wasn’t putting them ahead of wash/Boston/Philly/pit/isles

Yeah if they played in the North for example they’d look better

Aaargh, this one mis-fired due to ambiguity. The joke that I was trying to make was "Q. Remember when Sabres fans said their team would make the playoffs this year? A. "Yeah, I was expecting one of my two crummy local teams to make the playoffs, too." but that wasn't punchy enough, so clarity was sacrificed for brevity, and the joke disappeared.

I like your analysis. Seems like in so many trades, so many don't realize that a player has to be "fit" on new team.

Gee, I don't know why people would think the Sabres would make the playoffs. They are in a real tough division. Have to play miles over their heads to be close, which certainly didn't happen.

Dont think its that crazy of analysis either, too many times people do trades like they are playing NHL'21 and adding all the big names thinking it makes the team deadlier.

Avs wingers can play up and down the line up. A C or C/W combo is more of a desirable pick up vs a scoring winger who needs top line minutes to get the most out of him. Hall on the 2nd or 3rd line is a waste and offers nothing else besides that.

Does hall look great on paper, of course he does, but does he fit any desired need or weakness on the Avs...no he just buids already on their strength, top 6 winger depth

you mean the season series between avs and Vegas being 2-2 not beating vegas, or all time...bw Avs are 10-9 all time head to head with Vegas. You really are not very good at trolling

Completely agree with your assessment. Hall isn't what the Avs need. 3C is far more important.

and IMO you do that by not trading away Compher to do it, having him shift to the wing ensures that additional playoff depth as avs really can not count on. having a healthy Calvert throughout the playoffs, so at a minimum the 4th line is Nuke Bellemare Jost LOC...and if Calvert is healthy even better. Or if Nuke is the one that is rolling, compher down not he wing with that group is also fine.

I just think you try to avoid a compher trade bc clearly the avs have been cursed by an injury witch
