Also Duchene for Gards and a 2nd? You have got to be kidding me.

Honestly Corrado is more of a place holder. Pick any cheap right handed defender to put in his place it doesn't matter.

And 10M in goalies it to take unwanted contracts and who cares because they can afford it., plus Howard's contract runs out before they need to resign Marner, Matthews, Kapanen, etc.

And based on needs and availability what's wrong with Duchene for Gardiner and a second? Both players are rentals and Duchene is a better player IMO and would fit very nicely with Nylander and Marner.

And if you think my post are crap then explain why. I'm never opposed to learning more or educated debates. Don't just state opinions as facts and not back them up. I love hockey and the Leafs and just because I may have different opinions doesn't make them any worse than your own.

Uhh what?

Did you just ask what's wrong with Duchene for Gards and a 2nd?

Idk maybe because Joe Sakic will be pissing himself laughing.

Duchene is a rental and Gardiner is a rental. Duchene is a top six forward and Gardiner is a top 4 dman you can add a 3rd rounder to the deal if you want to the idea is more to get the conversation going.

Plus as of right now Colorado has an atrocious defence that needs major improvements and Gardiner can provide that as he is getting better and is loved by the analytics crowd.

I'm always updating posts based on other people's posts because I've just started this and am always willing to learn more about what people think about the league and it players.

Well I can tell you two things;
Duchene is not a rental. That's not how rentals work. And Gardiner would be a piece of the trade.

Both have one year left and are UFAs following the season. How else would you define rentals? And what else would you add? Like I said don't just chirp, add to it, I'm still new to this trying to wheel and deal thing.

Rentals are players like Hanzal, Vermette, Veteran players, young decent players. Not superstars.

Ok well for one, if the Leafs want Duchene then they will have to get rid of either Nylander or Marner or Kapanen. Because they have a great amount of depth at C and RW, plus they won't afford all of them. IMO Nylander goes because Marner is a heck of a lot better and Kapanen is a little bit worse than Nylander but because of that, they are able to retain other RW's like Brown and Soshnikov and Kapanen will be cheaper than Nylander so he wouldn't fit.

If we are just trading value for value and nothing else (as well if the Leafs even want to make the trade) then it should look something like this:

Duchene for Nylander and another decent LHD D or another B- prospect or a couple 3rds or something around that.

I completely disagree. Nylander is under team control for years to another 4 years and superstar or not he's a rental player because he doesn't need to come back. Also Duchene plays C/LW so RW depth is irrelevant. Nylander has potential at center and Kapanen should easily be replaced by Bracco the following year so if we're dealing good young talent I'd part with Kapanen long before Nylander. And if your set on dealing Nylander it's not for a player with one year (rental) left on his contract.

So that's Gardiner, Kapanen and a 3rd, maybe considering how much control is left with Kapanen.

I honestly have no idea what you just said.

"Also Duchene plays C/LW so RW depth is irrelevant". I was stating that if the Leafs want Duchene on the left side which would be beneficial, then they would have to get rid of their RW depth. Nylander would not be a fit if they get Duchene. What do you not understand about that?

This isn't a video game where you can keep all of your best players and think that someone that is below those best players on the depth chart would get you a superstar.

Maybe Kapanen and something else idk would work but the Leafs would get cap constraint down the road.

Ok I miss read your precious post about RW depth. And I realize this isn't a video game but with all this offensive talent coming up at the same time the Leafs are going to run into a similar situation to Chicago where they are constantly going to trade away good young talent for younger talent and draft picks so that some of those younger and cheaper players can take their place because of salary constraints. That's how Chicago started and how they survive with so many big contracts.

And the Duchene proposal was only intended to be for a playoff push nothing more so I would give up too much more to get him.

But you don't get Duchene just for a "playoff push". You get him because he'll be a part of your core for the next decade.

LMFAO Take more then Gardiner+2nd rounder to get Duchene out of Colorado. What is Toronto giving up for Howard and Vatanen and Despres knowing full well that more then likely Despres career is over.
