Both teams accept smile

Although you'll need to retain more on Compher to keep Columbus under the cap.

Colorado won't retain anything on Compher, they'd rather trade him for less I would think than retain for three years.

These trades are bad. Firstly the retention on Compher, and trading him and Donskoi is bad. Hall I wouldn't want on the Avs. Annunen is slated to be the future Avs goalie. Just bad all round.

Not good trades for the Avs. Cap dumping a 25yr old middle 6 guy that plays special teams because he has had a bad season to date in a condensed season that has been paused for the Avs, is an over reaction.

Taylor Hall is about the last personality you want to add to this locker room. He Yaps about wanting to play for a contender and signs with BUF the team with the longest playoff drought in the NHL.

With the way everyone is producing in Buffalo, it's safe to say it's not only Hall who's the issue. He was awesome with the Coyotes all last season, but didn't do much against the Avs; no one did.

As for Donskoi, imo he can be quite easily replaced. He's not a top penalty killer, and with everyone back he's a low end guy on the PP2. PP1 would be MacKinnon, Rantanen, Hall, Landeskog and Makar. PP2 would be Kadri, Burakovsky, Saad, Girard and Toews.

The Avs get a lot better with this trade.

Grubauer is the Avs current, and future goalie so I have no idea what you mean.

Retaining on Compher might be necessary, he's not that good. 4 points in 22 contests doesn't move $3.5mil in cap in this state of the NHL.

No they don’t, “didn’t do much against the Avs”, tell me when Hall has produced when it’s important? You’re trading the (presumptive) future starting goalie, your 2nd best C prospect, a guy you think you can easily replace who is tied for 8th in scoring can play up and down the line up is flexible enough to play both special teams, AND a 1st for 2 rentals you will never re-sign and a goalie who will never be more than a #3.

Sometimes the best moves you make are the ones you don’t. Obviously Sakic doesn’t think much of Hall because he has passed on trying to acquire twice. You want to sell low on Compher AND retain, just a whole lot of not good here in my opinion.

Wrong on all counts bar Grubauer being the current goalie, and shows poor knowledge of the organisation.

Actually it was only once. Sakic did offer Hall $6m x 1 last offseason but Hall preferred Buffalo's $8m x 1 offer.

Sakic would undoubtedly sooner trade a pick or prospect to avoid retaining rather than retaining. Capspace is worth more than a pick to a contender.
