I'll be completely blunt with you...I don't think WPG says yes to any of these trades. The value we are giving up just doesn't make sense for what we are receiving.

You must hate Stastny to make that trade. Not wise to trade one third of your team and then wait weeks to the new third to be able just to practice with the team.

If you want to improve the defense you probably shouldn't trade your best dman... Lol

That Sabres trade is actually pretty decent for the Sabres even if their fans here don't think so.

This is all pretty bad for the Jets and really trades away a lot of future pieces for meh returns, no thanks.

You factor in the players sent out and the two week wait till players brought in can join the team? I don’t think the jets are in safe enough position to risk that. Canadian teams must be very careful making any deals with American teams during the season.

So here is my reasoning behind these trades.

Buffalo - Pionk has been our best Dman this year but he is a RFA and he is going to want and he deserves a big raise. Risto has 2 years left at a great cap number. Montour helps a right side that hasnt been good and he can also play the left side which helps out alot. Let's face it Niku isn't a part of the future as long as Paul Maurice is head coach. So trading him to a team like Buffalo where we can acquire players instead of losing him to Seattle for nothing is a win. Taylor Hall needs out of Buffalo. The experiment didnt work. for Winnipeg to take him on at a retained salary is a big win. He is a true LW and can play with either Schief or PLD and be really good for the Jets.

Detroit - trading away some D prospects that have some NHL playing time to a team that is the process of rebuilding an getting a veteran player in Ryan who knows how to score and can help up and down the lineup is huge down the stretch. He has also learned to play a more 2 way game. He also gets the chance to play for a Cup in Winnipeg.

Edmonton - Beaulieu needs to be shipped out so that Heinola can be called up. The kid needs to be playing in the NHL. He is the same style as Quinn Hughes (not as skilled I don't think but close) and look how that has gone in Vancouver.

Nashville - They are looking to change things up. Getting Haula and Jarnkrok for the bottom 6 is a huge help. This gives the Jets 4 great lines to roll out at any time and any situation.

someone said that I traded away alot of the future? I still managed to keep Heinola, Perfetti, Samberg, and Berdin. Let's be honest if this NHL draft does happen its going to be major risky because alot of the draft eligible players haven't played alot of meaningful games. So trading away 2021 draft picks are fine. Especially if it means winning a cup. With a lineup like this the Jets are going to be contenders so their draft picks are going to be near the bottom of the order. So the prospect that the Jets would draft shouldn't have a high percentage of making the NHL.
